Default 10CG vs 14SG

why does the 10CG cost more than the 14SG? Comparing the specs on the Futaba site, it seems like the 14SG has more to offer.

The 10CG is a very old design. Most hobby stores have then discounted to get rid of inventory – they don’t sell very well these days.

Newer designs have newer more compact electronics that’s less expensive to manufacture. It’s just like computers – the newer ones are less expensive with more features. I have a 14SG and could not ask for anything more.

10CG is an evolution of the 9C, which in its day was a replacement for the old 8u and quite an advance in programming ease (If you think modern Futaba radios are confusing you should go look at a 9zWCII ) the 10 is still priced in Futabas old pricing structure where this set was the top 'non-pro' radio before you got to 9z/14mz type territory.

I have had the 9 the 10 and the 14... The 10 actually has a few features that the 14SG does not - 7 point curves, more swash types, logic switches, a significantly bigger screen, the older sets where module based and could switch to FM and PCM if you still had older models on those systems... and personally I think faster/easier navigation through the screens with both the scroll wheel and joystick.

On the other hand the 10C looses a lot vs. the 14SG. You dont have ball bearings on the gimbals, you only have two 3pos switches, you dont have SDCard compatibility and no online updates. 10 channels max and only 8 of them are proportional. No FASSTest & with that no telemetry or sbus2. You have a lot less flexibility to assign channels and mixes since its not function based (and because of that you need more of those 10C p-mixes to do things that can easily be done with simple function assignments on a 14SG... this is especially an issue for complex fixed wing)

Last year I converted the last of my birds on FM over to 2.4 and sold my module based 10C for a 14. Best upgrade Ive done in years.

Those are 20 year old technology both from a hardware and firmware standpoint. The 14SG has a far superior menu system with many new features.
