lepton 4s kora 15-14 disappointment
well, I have a bunch of flights on my lepton with the fp 3700 4s packs and I really am not to impressed.
I am using the smaller of the two included pinions with the kit and the ship only hits about 2200 hs and it bogs out on climbs and tictocs. I thought this was supposed to be a rocket. Any tips out there? I would assume that the bigger pinion will up my headspeed but won't that affect my torque to the blades and worsen the bogging climbout? Funny I used the hs calculator at readyheli and it figured my hs at way over 2000 almost 3K. not happening... |

I would look at your ESC and throttle curve.
With my Kora 15-14W & Jazz 80-6-18 & 24t Pinion, I get 2800 rpm at the head with 90% throttle on the 4s pack. That is tached with 2 tachs and the MicroPower recording the Head Speed. Gus...

I Program mine for mode 4 Heli Mode, Mode 7 (If necessary), and Mode 9 Lipo Mode.
I run Throttle on Channel 1 (Futaba) (Throttle channel for JR & DX7) Normal Mode Throttle Curve: 0-45-90-90-90 Mode 1 & 2 Throttle Curve: 90-90-90-90-90 Normal Mode Pitch Curve: 30-40-50-75-100 Mode 1 & 2 Pitch Curve: 0-25-50-75-100 Throttle Hold Pitch Curve: 30-40-50-75-100 I generally move throttle to half and let it spool up, then switch to mode 1 for flying. Gus...

I too will be running this combo, but i opted to fly it with 5S, i believe that this is what i have seen and decided for the 5S, hopefully u can figure it all out though, cause i have heard that with 4S it still is pretty darn fast....Ivan!

What's the smaller of the two pinions?
The Kora needs the 24T I have the Kora 15-14, FP 3700 4S 20C, Jazz 55 ESC This setup works absolutely fine - heaps of power It's my most powerful heli (I have 90's also) Normal mode throttle 0 55 55 55 55 Idle up 80 80 80 80 80 (It's in heli/govenor mode) When you spool up - wait for a few seconds at zero pitch for the headspeed to kick in and the govenor to latch onto that

I have this setup and didn't like it at first. I have decreased the collective pitch to about 10 degrees and increased the cyclic and it seems a little better but still tends to bog more than my old Hyperion. I'm going to try to put this through its paces before I really decide.

I'm getting about 2500 on the head with the 23T
That's why I want to revert back to the 24T It does not bog on 23T and I would assume it can drive 24T fine The engine does not get hot on 23T I can get a video done on Sat

I've been flying this more and unfortunately, I have to be very gentle with the collective management or else I'll lose tail authority due to decreased head speed from bogging. Even my 6S TRex 600 has more power than this. Come to think of it, my Hyperion 3025-10T was similar to this Kora. I am getting used to flying it more and am starting to appreciate the heli again, for its own characteristics.
For me, I'd like more power from this heli but am learning to adapt my flying style to it. No stick banging...Darn! |

I can understand what you mean but, I was under the impression that the lepton was a 90 heli miniaturized... i think the kora was a bad choice for 4s and better suited for 5s.
Anyone suggest a better motor? a 15-12 perhaps? I am not going to buy new batteries. |

I like the hyperion 10 turn on 4s. I run a 23 tooth at 100%. I get right at 3000 rpm. It has a lot of raw power. I do think a lot of the tail issues are because the gearing is only 4 to 1. I wish someone would make an after market auto gear that would speed up the tail a little bit.
