Default video & radio frequencies

I'm curious if one can run both video and radio off the same frequency, or do you need to use two different for each?

I want to run 1.3ghz.

It makes sense and I figure they would interfere, I just wanted to make sure.

What do people here run?

1.3 video, 2.4 radio?

1.3 radio, 800 video.

Always range check on the ground with a new setup. Once your RC signal gets swamped, it most likley won't recover before a crash, also remember that GPS is around 1.5Ghz and is a very weak signal. I have seen a recorded GPS track show large errors on a multicopter, so keep that in mind.

I personally have used 2.4ghz for rc control and 900 mhz for video. Worked great for me. No problems at all. I would also recommend keeping receivers away from transmitters even if they are on different frequencies. For example don't put your GPS antenna right next to your video transmitter. Good luck!

I have run into video interference issues on some facility sites where they use 900Mhz for motoring processes withing the plant, for most locations no problem. 2.4 on the Heli has never been affected.

1.3ghz has been great for me so far, had some setup issues but that was but wiring related not performance issues. 400mw on my quad with basic whip antennas for testing will go further than the quad will do thats for sure lol.

I haven't tried messing with antenna location on the quad or higher gain antennas on the ground yet but im pretty impressed so far...

Also, im running a dragonlink lrs

Cool thanks for the responses. I'm thinking I'll go 2.4ghz for my remote and 1.3ghz for my video.

Are there any known issues with this?

1.3 is very close to GPS frequency, may have issues if your TX antenna is close to GPS reciever. A non-issue if your not using an autopilot. Also 1.2 is half of 2.4 and there can be issues with reduced range if there is noise in the 1.3 signal. I strongly recommend a low pass filter such as http://www.rangevideo.com/900mhz-1-3ghz-low-pass.html for the Video signal. Video transmitters at this price point aren't known to be a very clean signal and can broadcast garbage in neighboring channels. I would keep as much separation as you can as well between the video antenna and 2.4 receiver antenna.

Regards,

Great info. I'll likely buy that filter.

I don't intend on having autopilot on my first build so I don't think that'll be an issue.

Same here.. I fly behind my house in the suburbs over some forest area/wet lands https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&l...01339&t=h&z=16 and have gone 3500 feet with out loss of video or control of the quad. Not to bad given the houses and stuff around me. I do stay at tree top level due to the airport a couple miles up the road.

So what remote control do you guys flying with 2.4ghz use? I currently have a dx6i. Would that suffice or would I need to add a booster of some sort?
