Default Koby will not stay spooled up

My Koby 40LV is not cooperating at all with a Scorpion 2221-6

Does the Koby have KSA mode? I don't see it listed in the manual

It does not. It has similar architecture to the kosmik which does not have it either. What is happening and what version is your Koby firmware?

Make sure you have the latest firmware in the Koby first. You'll need the Progdisk for this unfortunately. If it's a timing issue then you can adjust this with the Progdisk.

I Purchased mine from helidirect about 3 months ago. I'm not positive which version of the software it has but I am under the impression it is the most recent (but not positive)

I posted about this a while back and got nowhere with it so I gave up on the ESC but now i am back to wanting it to work.

When it spools up it is fine, when I switch to IU it is fine.

but when I start to 3D (and after) it does this:

3 seconds 4000RPM
drops hard to 2500RPM
3seconds 4000RPM
drops hard to 2500

It does this over and over until I land, reduce throttle to zero and spool up again. I can hover gently no problem, hard input and it starts doing it again. I can reproduce this every flight and has led to 2 crashes in my trouble shooting. I am setup for mode 4 + lipo.

This is the Koby40 on a Blade 450x with Scorpion 2221-6, Align 415m's cyclic Align 420m rudder, iKon FBL. Motor is on 12T pinion (I think, can't remember)

Let me know what you think. I really appreciate it, I'm considering switching all my helis to Kontronik but this one has left a sour taste in my mouth. I have a Jive on my Gobby630 with no issues

Maybe I need to get myself a progdisc

Any ideas? My next step is to contact Kontronik. I'm afraid to put this back on my heli as it has already caused two crashes

is it possible the kontronik 40LV cannot handle the -6 motor? i have a -8 and it says on the box max 45amps. the -6 would probably have a higher amp rating than the -8. have you tried a motor that has a lower kv rating than the -6 motor?

Yeah that was going to be my next question too is it may be that the controller is too small for the motor.

I see people that are running -6 on the stock 35amp esc. Another user posted that their logs showed a peak of 65amps.

I would think the Koby 40 could handle it.

Is it possible to disable over current protection?

No you cannot disable it as it would lead to FET failure and or a fire. Check your gear lash as well as a tight gear lash can cause excessive amp draw. What throttle percentage in your radio are you using for 3D?
