Kosmik 200=nose heavy
With the new esc on my 800 it is a little more nose heavy than I'd like. So far I have shortened the esc to motor wires and saved 30grams. Not much but its a start. I have also removed my lipo tray and the two BIG strips of Velcro. I will be drilling holes in it (like Kyle did) in an effort to shed some weight. A lot less Velcro is going back on. Not sure where I can remove weight. Anyone else have this problem?

You should be able to slide the battery's back on the plate some.
Even if you have to stagger the packs a bit. Could also eliminate the motor connectors . Just run the esc wire into a brass sleeve ( main blade bolts reducers) . Other than that , you've lost the big rx pack (assuming a mini buffer) . The 800 has such a light disk load that a few extra grams for a kosmic shouldn't cause any issues. Martin

Nothing fancy. I used a 3/4 bit. I was afraid of tear out from a hole saw. I still need to do some clean up on them.

Sure. I have GensAce 4400 60C nowadays, they are about 840gr each in weight and they are not as back as they could be. I used to have GensAce 5000 40C, they were about 930gr eachand they had to be positioned as back as they would go but heli was still sitting on the mainshaft on the table.
EDIT: Also, my motor is rewound, heavier than original. Not much, maybe 50gr or so.

I'll put my Thor's on a scale and see what they are. Cool pic sitting on the main shaft.

I had the same problem and I wrapped a strip of lead (if I recall well, approx. 1 mm thick and 15 mm wide) just in front of the heck rotor housing. Fixed it with double sided tape and covered with black tape so that it was hardly visible.
I had to remove the extra weight when I put on the tail boom cover from www.heli-center-berlin.de regards, belgo |
