My elevator servo failed today. I might just have to cannibalize one from my mCPX BL until I can get to my LHS. Planning a trip to LHS tomorrow (today technically. 12:16am).

Flew yesterday and had my first crash that resulted in needing a substantial repair. Broke a link on the swashplate. Admittedly it's my fault in that the ball was weakened when I tried to level the swash. I didn't know that the ball links were only one way, and I bent the arm on the swash trying to force the link on.
After a search found that the links are only one way so their is no half turn adjustment. Bummer, learned from that one. I did order in the previous days a Lynx swash. I received it the same day I broke the swash. I am a little loathe to install it just yet as the OEM part may be designed as a weak link. Installing the Lynx swash which I assume is stronger than the OEM swash at this point in time might introduce stresses that would be carried through the rest of the structure and break something else. I am going to order up a OEM swash, install that and save the Lynx for later when I improve my skills. The only other damage has been the canopy, and the tail fin. Canopy has been taped and the tail dental flossed. The only other thing I get is sometimes one of the servos goes full travel and gets jammed. I de-power and re-position. I guess all this is typical for a newbie coming off FP's to their first CP? |

I'm also going to pick up a mQX clockwise motor and see how it compares to the ones I've been using from micro motor warehouse. (I think this motor's on it's way out... 44 flights and I notice that it's not giving me as much torque as before, lower head speed too, at least by the way it sounds) Maybe it IS time to go BL, but I'm reluctant to go with a plug and play kit, and it seems like the only good option left is the Xtreme Spin motor kit.. contemplating the HH kit too.

I just ordered the mild motor from pcajq.
On a side note, I have discovered that I lose a lot of power when my spindle is slightly bent. I crash a lot and this is inevtable . Straightened it today part way through a battery and saw a big difference.

I myself ordered another two of the micro motor warehouse cans... because I actually like them that much more than the stock cans... ...which are now being sold for $19.99 at my LHS with only one left on the shelf...

I bought a new main motor, a new blue canopy / tail fin and new regular blades.
Got the new motor in no problem. Now, for some reason, I have no "slow idle up" (only the Lord knows what I managed to screw up in the DX6). But, this time, I'm being smart. I stopped trying any attempt to fly until I get this figured out. Then I'll take the blades and tail rotor off to verify the slow spool up. EDIT: I am no longer possible spam material.

Regarding the soft start...
I honestly don't ever use it at all...I lift off in N mode and flip to IU after it's up Foolproof and more reliable, and I simply reverse the process to land |

1 - Always identify the wiring connectors before dis-assembly. (I had ID'd the servo's, but not the motor connectors) It seems that when one reverses the positions of the main motor and the tail rotor, strange things happen. The tail rotor was doing a beautiful job spooling up slowly. Reversed the connectors, went out to the garage and flew 4 packs through the Spawn.

It Was A Good Day
Today, I flew 6 batteries through The Spawn.
No crashes. Zero, zip, zilch, nada. On the last battery, I managed to hover for 2 minutes - twice. Landed exactly when the lady said "Zero".

Now you need to go to a brushless conversion (not the HH upgrade) so you can use an extended tail boom and spin KBDD Pilot's Choice mCPX main blades...talk about lift...punch out too fast and you'll distort the time/space continuum I added a 7mm extended boom tail to one of My BL nCPX's last night...and it's a ripper |

Leveled the swash plate using the magnet-and-pin method today.
Flew 6 batteries through Spawn. She is happier now. But, she still wants to go major left when I apply any pitch after the initial spool-up. I just nudge the aileron right as I increase the pitch and this seems to take care of this problem.
