Master CP Autorotation
Hi there,
anyone knows how to disconnect main motor, keeping the gyro working? I mean keeping tail control. This way you could autorotate, in theory I was just guessing... I have tried throttle cut, but this cuts both motors, although you have control of the servos. My Devo6 doesn't have a throttle cut curve, but it gives you a linear pitch curve and it seems to be possible to control the heli. If I could find the way to just disconnect main motor, that would be great. Maybe using an interruptor at any spare channel? (will the blades have enough inertia to keep spinning? that is another story..) anyone tried? thanks a lot |

Its probably possible to auto a bird that size, I've seen its done on a 300x but its not easy... got to flare really really low... But as I said, I wouldnt bother on a Master CP, a 450 maybe...

I wanted to practice autos with the MCP as well. One of things you can do is practice approaches for autos with the throttle set very low but before the tail turns off.
Another exercise is "mini" autos: Hit TH from a hover about a foot off the ground. Enough control authority remains for a second or two to land it. Do this one over grass! It's good fun. Paul |

Cant really se the use of low throttle aproaches, I might missunderstand how, but in a "real" auto you will need to force air through the disc to keep or build up head speed... ...to clarify what I mean, the hard part is to build up head speed (or keep it), dive and flare... My suggestion is, get a nice sim (phoneix, real flight or accurc) and practise autos... First just try to get it down safely, later 3d autos with overspeed or blade stops...

When I was looking for a new paint scheme for my Lionheli "goblin" (MCPX-BL) I actually found an autorotation gear for MasterCP...
http://www.lionheli.com/index.php/au...master-cp.html It wont do that much since the tail will stop working, but its cheap enough to replace the stock gear and shaft, and it will allow the blades to turn a bit easier if the power is cut... I'd still recommend to use a good simulator first, when you ace them there try it on a bigger bird (at least 450-size) with bail-out in the esc so you can abort mid-try and get power again without waiting for a slow start...

Hey Livan75, sorry for my lack of feedback man
yes, I knew about that auto kit and I had been using it, although I must say this kit is a bit more noisy compared to the stock shaft and main gear, but I like the sound of the blades after the motor has stopped spinning (damned walkera's s fixed depowering throttle curve..) Master CP is a very good bad heli. I am flying a 'slightly agressive' sport mode on a V450D01v2, and I fly 3d at the simulator, but the MCP will always be my first cp school, so I have recently done my first 'real' inverteds, and I wanted to do it with the master. And back to the thread, which is autorotating with the mcp, I was seeking the way to have tail control while stopping main motor. Well that was as easy as setting the correct throttle hold value. In my case (full brushless kit from rchobbygear_plus), I have tail control without main motor above 18%, up to let's say 22% where main motor starts spinning. I still haven't tried to auto with my mcp, and I don't know if I ever will, but you can't deny we are closer than ever!! |
