I just broke-in a new Hyper for this season, I've been running a OS50 max. wow what a difference...

Now about my question.

Do we have to have AMA and IRCHA to fly there or is AMA the only membership needed?

I forget... in the past (and this year), did you have to have IRCHA membership to have a chance to win the big prizes? Or any prizes?

Man.. I was just thinking about going to IRCHA yesterday.. then started looking at driving and or flights.. 17 hours each way from Houston...1100 miles.. I dont think I can swing that.. 2 extra days of driving added to the event =(

And then the fact that Muncie doesnt seem to have an airport of its own so cant fly directly in...let alone trying to figure out how to get helis up there on a plane. . Wow.. as much as I'd love to do this I dont see how its gonna be possible for me to go any year soon.

The bump on this thread reminded me that I didn't have hotel reservations yet... now I do and am all set for my first IRCHA.

702 miles for me!

Last year was my first and if things remain the same, yes, you have to be an IRCHA member for the grand prize(s) but any registered pilot qualifies for the main raffle prizes, many of which can be quite "big" themselves including complete helis and kits, radios (like a 12X, for example), etc.

Paying $25 for new member registration the day of the raffle last year was the best $25 I have ever spent. I fully intend on attending somehow this year but I won't be flying up like I did last time. I had enough miles for a free ticket then but not this time. Plus, I'd like to take more than just a tiny electric or two. My Aurora would probably like to revisit the field it came from.

Wink

Isn't it about time to crank up the traffic about IRCHA on HeliFreak???? Lets talk about flying stations ( Need more of them) and golf carts and the good looking ladies that were there last year (they did influence my decisions on heli purchase)

I know this is one of those wait and see questions but I'll ask it now anyway.....

IRCHA 2008 there was the main flight line (Site 4) where all the action took place, and then another area (Site 3???) where if you didn't like the rip roaring 3D you could fly a more peaceful pace (come on this is IRCHA baby!!!). Anyone know if that site will be available again?

I didn't know about site 3 or I would have went there and did some flying, as it was I only got to fly 3 times including the 450 pylon race which was a hoot.

I say we need a 250 pylon race. Now THAT would be a hoot. A buncha little mosquitos buzzing around that all pretty much look the same. Might go something like "Is that my heli? No wait that one is mine I'm sure of it.... Ooops... Dang."

Where do I sign up?
