Default zyx-s driving me mad

Looking for some help. I have just built a tarot 450 pro fbl kit and installed a zyx-s gyro. When I say just built, this has actually been going on for a few months now and has nearly been violently dismantled many times. I was using fbl.net.nz software and following a very informative youtube series by Simon installing the same gyro on his hk450 fbl rebuild. All seemed to be going fine and working my way through setup steadily.
Problem came unexpectedly one day on reopening my set up program I found that switching from heading hold to rate mode had no effect and causes major swashplate movement. The gyro seems to initialize properly and has steady red light. Connects fine to software and everything appears to be fine except this switching from heading hold causes the swash to drop and light stays solid red. Have set 31 and 70 in gyro menu as suggested but even changing these numbers has no effect. It did all work fine the previous time I was in, so I can only assume it is something stupid I have done.l have tried resetting data from software program but no change.
Any ideas out there or has the gyro had it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Gary

Check, with it connected, in the software that you didn't inadvertently change it to "condition" switching vise heading mode. The setup tab. While your there, make sure both conditions are the same,

It's possible you accidently did something in your Tx too (reprogrammed that switch with a mix?)
