Default First FBL setup, SK540 bit stuck about powering the unit

Hi guys,
I'm sure the answer to this will be obvious with hindsight but I'm a bit stumped.

Going through the wizard and have got to the point where I want to bind the SK540 to my DX8 using a satellite. Only problem is I can't seem to get the 540 to power on to bind it. I have tried using a 4xNiMH battery pack which worked just fine when using my Spektrum receiver for swash setups etc. I plugged it in to all the IO ports.
I also tried using the bec from my ICE lite 50, but I'm not sure that will give a BEC current prior to binding?

Perhaps I need some other kit, but as I said I'm new to FBL setups.

Any help apprecitated!

It's on a 450 with the 50 ice light? So setup all the servo leads in including the bec wire from the ice, make sure the satellite is plugged in, click "bind on next startup" from the menus, unplug the 540 from the computer, and plug a battery into the esc. That's it. It will look for a bind the next time it sees power. Just plug your 3s flight pack into the esc like you would normally power the heli.

make sure you unplug your motor though. It won't spool before you properly set up the governor, however you should always play safety first.

That's right it's a 450 pro with ICE lite 50.

Thanks gitbse I have gone through the wizard again from the start and followed the procedure as per the wizard and your post, however I still can't get the 540 to power on through the BEC. If I unplug the ESC from the 540 it will do a cell count beep, if I power it on when plugged in to the 540 I just get a flashing red LED on the ESC. In the castle link I have BEC set to 6V.
actually i think i may have found the problem 1 minute here. . .
yep I had all the servo plugs in the wrong way around. Dummy!

Nice. I was about to ask if you had the plugs in the right way.

simple mistake.

If you actually look closely at the servo plugson the 540, you will see two rods on one base, and one rod separate from the other two. The two connected are the +/-, and the separate plug is the signal, or the white wire.
