Default 100 flights report/maintenance

Ok, I’m at 98 flights, still going strong for the 300x! So far, I don't have much bad to say about it, work good, right away when it was new I checked and balance everything; I never bent a shaft or anything because of vibe or anything. The only thing that happened to it is that once I landed in the grass inverted! I was trying to cut the grass, but the grass got me! After that, I changed the cyclic servos as one was stripped; I went with cheap 9gr servo turnigy. Anyway, all that to say that it is a pretty good machine! I also run CF blades.

But now, my dampeners need to be replaced, they are so soft that after my last flight today, I was wondering if they were gone! I need to go to the LHS tomorrow!

The swash plate got some movement to it, not very much but still! Anybody else notices that and did you bother?

Also there is a lot of in and out play on the tail blade, I would say 1.5mm, any of you add shims?

Pretty normal for dampers to wear out in that time frame. Do not shim the tail blade grips, it is unneeded, and can stress the other components.

Great, it's pretty normal for the damper indeed. Thanks Brian for the advise on the tail, I won't touch it as it work perfect! The 300x is such a good heli for me, I progress so much with it. By the way the belt still look like new.

Hi Brian,
My 300X came with a brass washer (one on each blade) on the outside side of the root of the tail blade. On the manual you do not have these washers. On the Parts Listing, you do show the washers as part of the replacement Tail Blade P/Ns. Should I keep them or remove them?
Thanks for supporting us here on HF.

I have one washer each on my tail blades since I installed my orange one and it's working perfect.

I'm at 119 flights today, I was flying with the stock battery that got 25 ish cycles and I start to have the motor cutting out in the flight?! Is there a function in the esc that cut if voltage sag! If so it look like it's not a good setting for heli you don't want the cut but reduce power especialy on the 300x! Anybody got the story about the esc or something else is wrong with my 300x.

Speaking from my experience with other Blade helis, it sounds like you're experiencing Low Voltage Cutoff - when your battery drops to a certain voltage, the engine will throttle up and down, as a warning to land as soon as possible. If you're still flying the same flight times you have always flown, it's possible you've got a battery going bad.

That's just my best guess, and I don't own a 300x yet, but I've placed my order and I have owned half a dozen Blade helis.

That could be it, not the best best for heli like the 300x that the motor doesn't disengaged! Anyway the stock pack after 25 flights is going down, I will probably change the esc for one that I can program myself.

I post that already on the Spektrum forum but what the heck, maybe somebody here can help! Ok, need some help here! I got a 300x since last fall, 120 flights on it... Lately, while in flight the motor stop working, but 1-2 second later, came back alive, it did that a few time in the flight, I landed, checked my battery, it was still at 50%. At that point I was thinking that my ESC was defective or something like battery but try other that I know are strong pack, I changed the ESC and it still doing the same thing. Today, I spooled the helicopter on the ground and it did that again and the sticks on my dx8 could not move the servos. Plug another battery, same thing. I'm dealing with an intermittent problem, I suspect that it is the AR7200BX, Anybody got the same thing before that can help me? I called HH today but the 7200 is not warranty anymore since I got it last October. By the way I got a 450x with an AR7200 and never had trouble like this.

I'm not sure if this is the same. But I thought I'd relay an issue I had that was similar. A couple of times my heli just dropped out of the sky after a minute and I went through a lot of the same troubleshooting steps as you (different batteries, different ESC) I even started to suspect the AR7200BX was faulty. In my case it turned out to be a bad NIMH battery in my DX7s transmitter. I switched it out for the lipo transmitter pack and it has never happened again. The way I figured it out was because I had telemetry installed on the heli. The transmitter showed it was fully charged but would start to log holds once I got a few feet from the heli. Anyhoo...If your transmitter has a NIMH battery and you charge it often that's something else to look at.

Another thing that can cause weird stuff like this is static electricity. This is usually caused if the tail belt is rubbing up against something it shouldn't.

Thanks for the input. I have a lipo and I did charge it to make sure, but no joy.

89 flights today, only thing I had to do was to loctite the lower bearing race on the main motor like we have to do on the 450x. Other than that, one crash back at around flight 10 where I replaced the blades and one main grip. I did replace the tail blades with yellow ones for visibilitys' sake and add a Fusuno canopy when the "windshield" on the stocker started separating about 40 flights ago

I did put the frame brace back about 10 flights ago as well. I had noticed vibrations that the motor was causing, and I took this as an opportunity to add a lynx frame brace.

I had the same problem with the power surging. I was using new eflight batteries that have under 5 flights on them. Do they just need conditioning? Or could it be my transmitter batteries, i have DX6i and I keep it charged all the time.

I'd go with the lynx dampeners significantly better.

What are you doing with the defective Beast? Can it be repaired or is it just a paper weight?
