Default Naca Duct

Has anyone figured out where the best location is for these ducts? Like how far up or down the canopy it should be for the best cooling!!!

The nose position we all tried on the TDR and did not work really well as we know that airflow at speed is nearly at 90deg to the NACA duct, better position would be to put one each side of the canopy just in fromt of the motor angeled up at about 20-30deg.

Just my two cents!

Peter, your comment is noted, however..just by adding the naca duct 5cm from the nose I had a drop of over 15 degrees in temps...however my climate is very different from any body out there. 5cm from the front is directly on the kosmik..it was perfect...

I also installed a heat sink..there are pictures under "what did you do with your banshee" now I cant remember the exact figures but those two items dropped the temps by almost 20 degrees.

I see even Gert on the Diabolo site recommends it either side. Any hole that brings airflow into the canopy will lower temps, but I think for least drag and most effective cooling it should be two either side angeled upwards to be inline with airflow at speed, that is the way the NACA duct works at it's most efficient. There is also a large suction from the bottom back of the canopy so it helps.

My TDR insane canopy has them like that...infact I have three NACA ducts...LOL Dubai heat is intense.

No wonder my banshee is slower than my DS all that blady drag...Just joking Peter

Judging from my Diabolo experience I will not use them anymore.
Sure, Denmark is very different from Dubai, so I got not more than 5 degree of a difference.
And that is logged temp, not measured one.
But I also think my motor is so much better with the new winding, so temps under the hood are under control.
I wish i could say that about the weather right now..

So what temps were you having before and after?

OK in looking at the position for installing the naca duct, 5cm from the nose would put it below the esc and just above the packs. Don't know if that is gonna work? Any comments? I am running a kosmik 200 with a fan!!!

Maybe a little higher and a bit more forward, the idea is to get air moving inside the canopy and if the entry point is to far back it will still stagnate inside the front portion of the canopy. Flow should be past hot components and out the back/bottom of the canopy where it is open and suction are created.

Well so much for adding a naca duct!!! I added one made some flights today and there was just about no change!!! The esc showed about a 5* cooling but the the motor was the same as before adding the duct!!! Gonna try adding some hole else where in the canopy...

I did some more testing and I am getting about an 8* reduction in temps on the esc, so it is working for the most part.
