Default What happened?

Hi all,

Just bought a 14MZ and am really psyched about this powerful radio.

Problem though - flipped it on yesterday and it quickly ran through colors on the Futaba emblem, and then went to fast blinking yellow. The light on the back - on the TM-14 module - is green and red together and then switches to blinking red, then back to green and red, etc. Power switch goes dead and I have to pull battery to turn it off.

I have not done anything weird that I am aware of like pull the battery while it is still shutting down, trade modules while powered up, etc. That is not to say that I didn't cause this, but I am experienced with the 9 and 10 channels and didn't notice any blunders. 8^)

I put about 15 to 20 start / stop cycles it total day before yesterday. I got it working with the phoenix sim (student mode ppm8), and was intermittently setting up my actual helis on other models. (BTW - it showed up with a Spektrum module in it - clue?)

I had not got to the point of turning on any receivers yet. I changed back and forth between models and sim several times, and also powered it up without a module like I do with the sim on 10C. When I did that I got a message at startup but it worked afterward. Anyway, there was no sign of problem when I turned it off at the end of the night.

Then I turned it on yesterday after work and got the blinking yellow. I remember thinking that this was the long bootup time that I read about, but after about 5 minutes I tested reset button several times, and then gave up and pulled the battery. I have also replicated the behavior with 4 batteries, and am pretty confident that it is not a power issue.

So, does anyone know of a reset / restore boot process? Should I get a card reader and try to update it, or is this hang happening before it would hit the CF?

Futaba said to send it in, but I wanted to fish a little first.

Suggestions?

Thanks, Scott

Yea, got the repair estimate from Futaba and it has a shot main board - $1086 to repair!

Guess I will have to return it. That isn't quite as advertised...
