My new (to me) Gaui 425 with the quick paint job I threw on it. I plan on trying some fancy stuff this winter with an air brush, but I just wanted to get something on the stock canopy to get in the air. The stock canopy is actually pretty easy to put together, I found the Testors orange plastic model cement worked perfect.

The theme is "Visibility":

Ya, the monocote trim sheet I used on the tail is not a perfect match, but I think it will work. Next time I am in St Louis I will head by Mark Twain Hobby and see if I can find a better match in person.

I was able to do a test flight this afternoon, it flew great. A couple of twist of a link to get the blade tracking in and a bit of trim and it would hover without my thumb on the cyclic. Wow 500 class rocks!

EDIT:
Here it is with the boom and tail blades painted. It looks much better I think.

I just wanted to share the Gaui FBL and with new wiring.

I made a bottom plate in the body with plywood, I drilled a hole in it and put a thin plywood bottom that slid between the skids and the frame. I hid all the coils of wire between these two bottoms.

Awesome job with the wiring. I also see that you have made your own flybarless head out of the original 425 head. How is it working out for you? Would love to know how you made it .

cheers,

Works just fine for me.

I ran the Jesus bolt through the flybar seesaw bolt hole to lower the head. The links I made out of threaded rod. I bet you could find a rod that is the correct length, but I could get the threaded rod local.

The extensions are these:

For the swash follower you can mod the FB ones our use this:

I imagine a Trex 500 FBL head would also work, Tarot has one for $45

EDIT: Sorry, man did not see you were in Finland there. I don't know where to get those in Europe, but I bet you can figure it out. I'll keep the links to where I know to find them so you can see exactly what I am talking about.

I di dthe same mod for my 550 - I used some rods that I had for the swash to grips - they are either the cyclic servo to swivel links from the Gaui 550 / 435 or from a Raptor

Slighty off topic here, but I came back to this thread just to see SQRT's FBL setup. I have also read that the Trex 500 FBL head is a direct fit to the stock main shaft, anyone see any reason why the Trex 500 DFC head wouldn't work either?

DFC uses a shorter main shaft. (I think.)

My gaui 425 before my first take off (boom is medium boom but blades are 425mm)
Hacker A40-12S 1350kv
CC ICE 75
Futaba S3152 on cyclic and BMS 661DMG on tail
2 lipos turnigy 3S 3000mAh 30C

I bought it on ebay (no motor and no esc) nearly 18 monhs ago

And I did not put the canopy for the flights
