Default 5.5 one way problem

While building my Agile 5.5, I've hit a problem with the one way bearing.

I put it together as per the manual, only to find it was solid and a strain to turn the main shaft while holding the main gear.

So, I pulled it apart, took out the shim that goes between the crown gear and main gear, and it was nice and smooth. It was also smooth with the jesus bolt only partially pushed through the one way sleeve. As soon as it went all the way through, it locks up.

Next, I sanded the shim both sides slightly, and reamed out the holes that the jesus bolt goes through on both the one way sleeve, and the metal part that's fastened to the crown gear.

After much pratting about, I finally got it smooth with the jesus bolt all the way through. So, I put it back in the frame, put the main shaft through, tightened up and I'm back to square one.

If I loosen it so the nyloc nut so it's barely engaged, then it's fine, but as soon as I tighten it up, it locks up again.

I've spent all evening on this, and it's now 1AM so I'm done for the night.

Any and all ideas about how to proceed tomorrow are welcome.

Sound like you may be over tightening the lower J-Bolt and crushing the sleeve causing the binding.
Just let the Nyloc nut do it's job and only snug down bolt.

A quick update.

It looks like my shim was to blame for it locking up. Without the shim between the gears, I could crank the jesus bolt right up without it binding.

I don't know about you, but my shim has an OD of 17mm rather than 15.8mm as stated in the manual. It was the only 13mm ID shim in the kit, and it sits perfectly on the top of the one way with no overlap, so I used it.

I had to do much more sanding to thin the shim down so I could get it installed without locking up, so that's done now and I'm on with the rest of the build.

Thanks for your input GimpyGolden.
