Default Turnbuckles for grip links.

Anyone have a link to a set of turnbuckles for the 800 ?

I have some fine tuning to do on tracking

If there's any of 700 guys here , i'll want to get a set for the 700 also

Yeah, I have them....hang on just a minute...

It's a Lundsford Racing "Punisher" 3mm TB....drop-in replacement for the swash and grip links on the 800XX..

When I ditched the digital pitch gauge method, instead using the main blade fold-back method, I could see the difference when setting up the rotor head with turnbuckles.

Thanks for the link EE

I did a search as I recall reading a thread about this before. After some digging I found another member using the 2 1/2 " version .

My 800 went in last year and I think I have a slight tweak to one of the grip extensions. I use digital calipers to make up all my links and have had no tracking issues for years now. Only a slight bit out - looks like about 1/4" to me. Hope these links will allow me to tweak it back 100%

Hopefully the car shop will have one of the 2 in stock.

On a side note I looked up the 700 manual and it calls for the same 30mm spacing between links as the 800 does.

The link length could vary depending upon servos used....and whether you prefer the follower arms to be parallel with each other....at least it did for me.

EE

Did you use turn buckles on both the 2 main grips and the 3 swash links? If so what sizes did you order?

I'm ready to order mine now. I have measured 46mm on the 2 grip links and 54mm on the 3 swash links. I think that works out to 1 13/16" and 2 1/8" I'm just not sure about what is closest to 1 13/14" on lundsfords site.

I'm using the X8s and 2 piece arms as well.

Thanks

I'm using one of the links for the swash to the grip to fine tune track.

For the rest of the links I use digital calipers to build all 3 the same length ( +- ~ .5mm ) , then level it out with a swash tool in the vbar software.

Same deal on the links to the head only I'm replacing one link with a turn buckle.

I went with the recommended lengths from Mikado , my swash follower arms aren't level at 0 degrees but there is no binding throughout the entire usable travel and far beyond.

JR 8917 servo's with Mikado stock arms.

I went with the above recommendations and found the 2 1/8 links a bit long for the 800 , on the 700 they work with a slight chamfer on the end of the plastic links ( so end can slide over larger non threaded portion of rod )

On the 800 , I've ordered up a set of links 1 7/8 long . punisher titanium 7/8 x 3mm units – part # 1068

I think these are going to work well for me according to my measurements. Hoping to see a little bit of the turnbuckle end in the plastic link hole

Thanks Martin. That's very helpful info. I was also looking at the 1 7/8 links for the blade grip links. What does it seem like it would take to get follower arms level? Longer / shorter swash links maybe?

Lundsford TBs on both swash and grips.

Ordered two sets....1 7/8"(for the grips) and 2 1/8"(for the swash, #1068s and #1070s, respectively).

Because the X8's output shaft center is farther away from its mounting hole centers, I found that the swash link lengths need to be increased from the manual's recommended length.

On my 700XX, I had to mill down these same TBs about 1mm....on my 800XX, they "drop right in".....

Also, with both the 700XX and 800XX, check your elevator X8 arm.....to ensure it doesn't bind on the fuselage bulkhead just aft of the main shaft assy.

Had to mill the arm down by ~1mm to prevent binding/stalling.

Will this work for Futaba servos too or do I need another length?

The thread diameter(3mm) is correct....link length can vary....depending on your choice of servos.

I believe Futaba has a spec for the output shaft center referenced from the mounting holes.

Buy long...you can always trim it down.

Always treat the manual's recommendation as an initial starting point.
