Yes ! It was about -3° celsius.

But the esc shut down when i was inverted. So i had to turn round and there was no more head speed to land softly.

But they are really stiff indeed.
Where did you get your skids from ?

Here's how I mounted my ESC. Although it overlaps the motor, there's no way the wires can touch with them coiled back on themselves. The battery wires are a bit long, though I've not had any issues.

The landing gear was from Fast Lad:

Hi Fred,

I wish my high-school French was as good as your English, but I'm not quite sure what you're asking?

Do you mean is it an easy swap to something like the skids I've used? If so, then the ones I've used are a direct fit, you just need some longer bolts.

You're welcome! Unless you're in the south of France, the weather is probably as cold as it is for me and Kalle, so more flexible skids would be a good choice.

Hello,

So sorry Wadders for my "bad" english . With the black landing gear, is the Beam raised ?

I hope you understand !

Thank you.

Your English is not bad at all! You should hear my poor attempt at speaking French. My wife also got some laughs after thinking she was asking for jam, saying 'preservatif'.

The black skids I've used are actually slightly lower than the stock ones. Which makes it more stable, but the tail is closer to the ground. I've got some longer bolts for the rear legs, so that I can add a shim to lift the tail.

Hi,

here was really nice weather today. So i went for a flight with my Beam after work.

I changed the esc from Fusion Hawk 120 HV to Kontronik PowerJazz with hercules BEC pro.

I just could not believe. The heli felt really damn light and had a really nice punch of power.
The esc did a far better job than the fusion. (I like the fusion...but should/will use it with vbar gov).

And wadders : good news --> my skids did not break. ;D

That's great news... were these new skids or stock ones? My new skids definitely have a bit more flex.

My flying buddy builds his Kasama helis with Kontronic equipment and it really does seem to be worth the money.

I managed to fly my Beam today for the first time after the skids crumbled. Once I got the tail tweaked again after dropping to 92mm tail blades it felt great. I don't want to pushing it too hard, as I've only got the carbon grip guides, due to both v1 and v2 alloy versions being on back order. You can flex the carbon ones by hand, so I imagine they're flexing a bit in flight.

I wish it was warmer here, I didn't last long before I couldn't feel my thumbs.

Wow, I really couldn't imagine living in such a cold winter climate... The coldest it gets here is around 0°C overnight in winter! Lol

So the landing skid issue... Is that a temperature related issue? I haven't had failures with my stock skids yet. And i've had a couple firm landings.

Default A few pics of mine

I only just finished building mine in the last few weeks and now have all the electrics setup and ready to go.

One of the shops here was selling a blemished orange canopy at a good price so I have that and the stock blue one. (please excuse the messy wires, I have tidied them a bit for now and will do some brading later)
