New Frames from Mikado
Looks like Mikado is making a thinner frame with added stiffener plates for certain areas. More canopy options as well.

1/2mm frame thickness difference. I wonder what that translates to in weight?

And I thought they were planning on making a molded frame?

Maybe now they can start working on those molded frames.

So whats the deal here, surely just another money spinner, the weightsaving is so marginal i dont see it making any difference, rather up headspeed by 10 rpm to simulate the savings, or are they much cheaper?, adding the stiffeners off course. But i reckon if i was mik i would have done the same, people buy hype and as long as they pay lets do it, they wont get my bucks though lol

They moved an inch, when they need to travel a mile.
The drivetrain is where all the mass is...I'd suggest a new head for starters. |

No weight in frames. Worthless endeavor... One if lightest designs around.

Yep not worth it to me for maybe an ounce or so? Team pilots have been flying them so I guess they just offered them up. Find me something that shaves 10-16oz and I'll bite.

Quit screwing around, nuke the existing "exxtreme" rotational mass platform, and build an up sized logo 600 style airframe. Sell thousands. I know you're reading this Ralph... |

We should stop being so nasty, lets agree once and for all the 700 is actually a 750 and lets be honest 99% of pilots wont notice the difference in weight etc, i enjoy mine as long i dont draw comparisons, the light pyro 850 and 14 s does a tremendous job here and i can really recommend this motor which i believe will become freely available.
I think Ralph should talk to Gerd to get some rebranded diabolo's and market as logo 700's, i mean isnt the diabolo kind of what we expected from mik. In the first place. Couple of beers together at Ircha, who knows, are you in Gerd?

I have just got a new kit and the frames are 1mm so are they normally 1.5mm?
It has the 1mm stiffeners also on it. |

The "normal" frames are 1.6 mm.

Yea its not a 700 to me, I kept increasing blades till it flys the way I want. Have 730's on it now but this much blade is taxing my current 12s setup at higher head speeds. Most of my time is at lower head speeds, say 1550 or so. When I get done with these packs I'll go 14s. I really like how it flys with 730's, just enough float and its plenty quick but I dialed in a good bit of collective and cyclic to make it do what I want.

I don't know fellas, I tried 750mm at 2050 rpm, and it was still slow on the collective...
I apologize for my constant attacks on the 700, but if you just keep quiet and make do, nothing will change. |

For once we ALL agree. It is NOT a 700 nor was it intended to be. It is not more a TRUE 700 class helicopter than a Logo 600SE is a TRUE 700 Class machine.
We all know this. It is what it is. As Stolla said 99% can't/don't care. If you WANT a 750 class heli there is no gripe. The gripe is from guys like Nathan and many like him that wanted a Logo 600 hotrod performance in a 700 class machine. I can't say I wouldn't or don't either. Now... that is not to say I don't like what I have. My L700Xx is the best machien I have ever owned for MY STYLE of flying and it has shaped my flying A LOT. It has forced me to slow down rather from making a lightning quick transition, BUT.... It has allowed me to exit one move precisly before I enter another rather than just pushing thru it offset or what have you. In the end it has made me a better pilot. That is without a doubt so it is VERY HARD for me to get mad at that... Does Ralf have a TRUE 690-700 machine up his sleeve? I have no idea but he doesn't have his head in the sand I'm sure. We all just have to admit we got thru a big curve ball verses what we all expected and we keep trying to force those expectations on this machine and we keep comparing it to new machine like the Raptor E700. That machine is LOTS faster in every respect. It also looks like a 450 beside the Logo 700. Two different words boys...
I like both of the helis mentioned. In the immortal words of Ron Lund... Helicopters... I like 'em!!!!

Yessss, I like Helicopters! I like what I like, and I like that great big 700 and even the sound the gear train makes. Now, that split tail boom clamp, not so much.

So the new kit comes with the thinner frames with stiffeners?, i think they cheaped out tbh except if someone can convince me of a big enough weightsaving, i would not consider anything under 100 grams noteworthy.
Nathan i get your frustration and i had it till i worked on my subconscious, now i actuall enjoy it. My friend is a big sky 3 d pilot he has couple of tdr's, x7,l600'aps etc, a real heli whore and he loves this more than any other, except perhaps tdr, he has stock combo. but man i miss my e720 will have to look at the 820! .....argh hang on i have to work on the sub conscious again
