The hyperion 160's and the stock batteries? Or do you have two hyperion 160's and both go for 3.5 min?

I am still waiting to buy a BL setup for my Nano. I am too slow, always sold out!
Hi everyone!
Have anyone tried these battery yet and what's the verdict?
I am about to order but like some feedback before buying.

I have 2x stock and 2x hyperion 160's. All seem to get about 3.5 minutes of sport 3D.

I received 4 last week. They are around 12 cycles each now and they are the most powerfull of all my batteries, including stock, by a long shot. One seemed weaker in the beginning but now it's as strong as the other ones. Go figure.

It's too early to talk about life span though.

I've just received 5 mini aviation yesterday but they're still in there breaking period so I can't say anything about them yet.

This is what I'm going to get for my wild setup, haven't seen anyone running them. I'm using mcpx skids and battery lead right now with the old hyperion 250's with the mcpx connector and wires I bought from Dylan last year. I'm using velcro to attatch them. Power is awesome for a full 3 minutes with slightly reduced power for another minute. The wild motor handles the weight very well, has a very quick climb rate.

Once broken in, they are good for about 2mins30seconds of flat 85% throttle before the tail starts to blow out. I've been flying in about 48 degree weather. Hope this helps!!

Well mild 3d however with a flat throttle curve it shouldn't make much difference either way.

you guys should try a heating pad to keep the batteries warm, you will see a big difference in power and tail hold

This heating up the prior to flying is an interesting idea.

I read an article by John Salt some time ago in helicopterfun.com that suggests the exact opposite, though in this part arcticle John refers to keeping the cells in the fridge when fully charged as a way of allowing them to be stored longer at in a fully charged state.

This article suggests that lipo's like the cold, rather than heat.

See bellow link near bottom of page under "RC Lipo Battery Storage"

http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-lipo-batteries.html

I'll need to try a heat pad, my lipo's are never warm, it's relatively cold most of the year where I live.

Hi Miracle Boy,

the article is really good. Regarding the warming up, see section "LiPo Hybrids":

Quote:
One interesting characteristic hybrid LiPo batteries share to an extent with their dry counterparts is they do get more efficient at ion exchange once warmed up. If you have ever noticed your RC model seem to gain a little more power a minute or so after working the battery; what you are experiencing is the increase in ion exchange efficiency once the battery chemistry warms up.

Interesting, I remember reading that bit myself, but I didn't realise that the type of Lipo's we use are considered (by some at least) as Hybrid Lipo batteries.

I'd appreciate some examples of heat pads that members are using for warming up their packs.

Thanks!!

When I use to race RC on/off road, it was not un common to see lipo bag warmers. You would put your lipos in a bag and set the temp. This was frowned upon by the community as there are certain risks to heating your lipos. I believe ROAR(the nationaly recognized RC body) ended up banning the lipo warmers and warming lipos. When you went into tech they checked your battery temp. I'm sure you can still find them today.

Yes, warm batteries = best performance.

If you don't have a heating pad a lamp aimed at your bucket of batteries will also work well, just like the fried chicken at the Quick Mart.
