Xtreme DFC Head
Thinking of swapping out my stock head for an aluminum DFC setup. The Xtreme setup looks promising, but I just have a couple questions about it. Does anyone know the weight? Is the 1.5mm feathering shaft significantly more resistant to bending than the stock one? What's the deal with the plastic inserts, seems like they could be trimmed down and lightened quite a bit.

1.5mm is 2.25 X more steel than you get with a 1mm shaft. Not just a little stronger. Over twice as strong.
I had to work hard to bend a shaft: inverted crash from 30 feet onto baseball infield. Don't lose the inserts. Can't buy a new one. Tip: mcpx blades fit without insert. Must be cut down. I like the inserts because I can get the grip screw tighter for better geometry and the blade still swings. Buy them. They are cool. All three of my wild boys have those grips with stock plastic hubs. Reliable.

I know the math behind it, it's 125% more. But my MCPX shafts bend easily, though there's a lot more mass. I'm just wondering if the real word data agrees with the theory. Sounds like it does.

Many many crashes and I don't even bother to check the F.S. anymore.

the xtreme head is fantastic, turned my nano into a piro monster! I can do nearly 10 piros in a row now without drifting off... Stock head I manage 2 at best.

I wish they would just sell this as a set. So the arms, grips and FS is all I need? Stock hub and Microheli swash plate should be compatible?
EDIT: Ah they do sell it as a set |

They claim it works on the stock head. Anyone happen to know the weight of the complete head?

With a wild motor and xp3A with this head set and their swash with battery and canopy it wished in at 31.5g and flew better than anything I've ever tried with the nano cpx so far 7 piros comfortably...

The Xtreme DFC is just pure awesome. My Nano is soo much smoother, flips faster, quieter, and faster. It improved the heli in every way. I like the feathering shaft for two reasons:
1. It's thick... you aren't gonna bend this thing! 2. You don't have to worry about screw tightness in the feathering shaft. Just tighten and forget about it! you can use it with mostly stock components, however I must recommend at least a metal swash... you just cut the forks off the stock head block if you keep it stock. I 1000% recommend this DFC head. |

That's true. I have it on both of my Nanos
The spindle is thicker than stock but it's hollow. I have bent mine today (hit a tree with full speed) |

I have microheli head and swash on one of my nanos, RKH on another, and xtreme DFC on the other. Now that I have purchased the xtreme DFC, I wish I never got the other ones. So awesome. Feathering shaft so much stronger and the bird is the smoothest of the 3 that I have. I also really like the plastic insert in the blade grip. Always hated how the grips on the other ones cuts into the blades. I actually had a blade break right at that screw once. Not sure if it was from that cutting action weakening it there.
One thing I noticed is that the blades are pretty tight in these grips. I always kept my blades pretty loose on my other nanos. It doesn't seem to bother it, though. No wag or blowout. |
