The evolution...or as my wife puts it "increased insanity" of a scale addict

June-July 2007 TRex450 SE V1 Darthdrk MD500

added nav/strobe lights

December 2007 TRex450 SE V1 re-dressed in Darthdrk Bell 222UT

added nav/strobe lights, antennas, pitot tubes, wire strike cutters, vent screens, inspection panels and fuel tank caps

July 2007 TRex600E TT MD530

Aug 2007 TRex600E TTMD530 Updated

added nav/strobe lights, searchlight, onboard camera, fly by video capability and onboard telemetry- altimeter, airspeed and voltage monitor

Jan 2008 TRex600E TTMD530 Updated...

and this is what happens when you start out flying by video then try to find the heli in the sky while it's zipping along at about 60mph...if yer gonna fly by video, fly by video, dont take your eyes off the screen...or else...

Jan 2008 TRex600E re-dressed in TT MD530 Civilian

Same mechanics, new skin

May 2008 TRex600E TT MD530 Civilian Upadated

Flipped the directions- main rotor to counterclockwise and tail rotor to the left side, added nav/strobe lights, landing lights, searchlight, onboard video, fly by video capability, onboard telemetry, functional engine compartment doors, "rain gutter" over the doors, "surfboard" on the doghouse, rivets, fuel tank caps and the beginnings of an articulated cockpit - cyclic, collective and rudder pedals linked to swash & rudder servo channels.

May 2008 TRex600E TT MD530 Civilian Updated...

and this is what happens when you fly too low and too fast over tall weeds...those skids make great anchors. One caught the weeds...while flying about 50mph...

July 2008 TRex600E Align (Funkey) MD500E a work in progress...

"flipped" the directions- main rotor to counterclockwise and tail rotor to the left side, adding nav/strobe lights, searchlights, landing lights, onboard video, fly by video capability, onboard telemetry, functional engine compartment doors, functional cockpit doors, "rain gutter", "surfboard", rivets, the articulated cockpit intended for the last build, and of course the too-sexy 5 blade main rotor

it flies just fine with no gyro/mixer gizmos- flies just like a real helicopter actually- with all the complex aerodynamics of the real, multi-blade thing.

Sep 2008 TRex450 SE V2 Align MD500E
(pictures coming soon)
Modified for counterclockwise main rotor, left-side tail rotor, 5-Blade main rotor, nav/strobe lights, cockpit details, rain gutter, surfboard over the doghouse and more!

Folks, I am seeing a lot of beautiful scale heli, only they all have flybar ... check out my site looking for flybarless device, SK 360 can replace the flybar to make your heli more realistic.

Actually there are several flybarless helis in this thread, including my Jet Ranger, which has an SK360.

I got mine directly from the source: http://www.skookumrobotics.com/ and that's where I'll buy the next one as well. Excellent customer service!

Wowsers... I've got some very steep competition for finishing the DragonFly I got from Ed(Darth). Really going to have to take my time and do a good job.

BTW.. what are people here using to hide the joins?? I tried a micro putty from automotive but its not working to well... Am trying a silicon but can't be sanded so I have to peel that off... what works the best???

And now that winters pretty much here for me I have plenty of time to work on the new scale so I can do a better job than I did on my first scale project. Did a Huey and put it onto a King2. Looked rough but worked.

happy scaling

Here is a pic from last weekend, it was the maiden FF, I hadn't attached the tail yet because I didn't have any screws long enough. Gotta find some because it looks odd without the tail.

Not sure how the rest of you got on here with the Align 500E body but i had to re adjust the elevator on the tail, as it was pointing trail edge up and therefore giving a "nose up" attitude at speed, now i have set it "nose down" a little and it flies at high speed so much better

Heres some cool HBK2s
All the bodies on the wall has been flown with K2 Chassis 450 size main motors, 315mm blades and electric tailmotors. Although they are 450 size bodies, Ive flown them with modified K2s.
