Wanted good video system for model planes or helis
My father and me purchased a small camera with a downlink transmitter for a plane. It worked kind of but the range sucked. Where can I purchased a good video system for a budge of a couple hundred bucks? Any info would be great.

We use one from Black Widow A/V ( www.blackwidowav.com ) that works pretty well, you can also get systems from www.Wirelessvideocameras.com which have had good things said about them but I've never seen one in action.

I have the wirelessvideocameras.com unit. I use it so I can see what my camcorder is filming. It hooks up to the output of the camera and works pretty good. I think 2.4G downlinks leave a lot to be desired in respect to range.

We are using the Blackwidow and the Digilive system on our still cameras.
Seems to work great, but is a battery hound. Run it on 12V. I think any of the hobby grade systems are not going to be a real clear picture. They are good for pointing a camera or device, but I would not record off of one if that is your thinking. |

I have the same one that Baja has, It works Great. The biggest linitation with most of these systems is the output. get one with 600mw power or better. As far as cameras go I use a sony mini DV camera on my Helicam solutions mount and get Great video.
I just did a bunch of video for a Jeep Rally yesterday and those guys were impressed. I had one of there camera men fly the mount and he did an awesome job. as soon as I get the tapes back I'll post some of the video. It was pretty hard to stay away from everyone and no overfly vehicles and people but I managed it. I also put a micro servo on the camera so you can zoom in and out but when zoomed in it gets a bit shakey. I can get about 20 mins of flight time on the spectra with all the extra weight.
