instead of using the the drywall tape try using some fishnet stockings. this is an old motorcycle painters trick to give an illusion of snakeskin. combine that with a nice 2 tone paint job and you will have a killer canopy

A friend of mine used an old Doily type table cloth, stretched and shaped, to paint alligator skin tribal flames on a truck. Turned out great but his wife was mad about the table cloth...

Default here's mine

I sprayed this with rustoleum spray cans. flourecent orange and yellow, 2x blue and 2x clear. the highlights and shading I did with waterbased faskolor white and black with an airbrush. this is the first time i've used an airbrush, and although I still have alot to learn, I'm pleased with how it came out.

Thanks! I try to stray from the usual canopy designs, and get creative.

Beautiful job! I would LOVE to see a tutorial on the steps with pics of how you did this... I have been painting for 30 yrs (cars, full size aircraft & helis etc) but just learning airbrush and touch up gun techniques. this is a beautiful paint job!!!

Best way to post pics is going to www.photobucket.com and setup an account for free. It makes it easy to post pics anywhere.
