Default Get 2 PL6īs or one PL8x2 ??

I already have a PL8 with 2x 12V PSīs.
I want to buy 2 new chargers.
2 PL6īs with the FMA board cost about the same as a PL8x2 with 2 FMA boards.

But besides costs, is it better to have 2 separate chargers than a single unit?
What setup is more practical?

Two chargers can be more flexible. You can lock them together and operate them as one dual channel unit. If you need a small portable setup, you can separate them and take only a single unit. In the unlikely event one needs to be serviced, you have a spare.

But the DPL does have a 48v input limit making much easier to max out the charger on 6s. Also the DPL has 95 watts of discharge power per channel vs 50 watts per unit on the Powerlab6.

Two chargers would also be a bigger pain to lug around if you don't have them attached or in a charge case (either way you give up the flexibility advantage.)

Benefit I see of having two units is what Greg mentioned, if one needs serviced or replaced you still have the other. However since you already have a PL8 and are looking to add to it, I'd recommend the DPL since it can provide more power than two PL6s.

I changed my mind and ordered another PL8 with a FMA board and 2 PSUīs.
I like the idea of being able to charge 7S batts in the near future so I am going to stick with PL8īs.
in a month or 2 I will order my 3rd PL8.
Thanks for the help guys
