If your weather over in Longview is going to be anything like ours, it will be a little chilly but fairly calm.

Well done JHL_1. It looks simple and uncluttered. My initial reaction was it was too top heavy but I suppose one has to look at weight distribution when it is flying not sitting on the ground.

i couldnt agree more! less clutter on the Odin is great. This heli weighing less than 9lbs its going to be a monster..geesh! I am sitting here with my odin ready to convert over... she is about to get a serious face lift...

I just looked up the forecast in Longview, TX. I sure would be flying. I'm dying to hear your reports. I hope you brought a video camera. All fingers crossed for a happy maiden flight.

Well,

I had 1 maiden flight and it needed some tweaking. So I went back home to take care of some of the issues I had. Fixed them and set her down in the front yard. Lifted off not knowing I forgot to put the tail rod link back on the tail servo. Set down to hard and broke both landin gear struts. It wadded up. I now know why you need a counter bearing on the motor shaft because my Kontronik motor shaft broke off. Well the good news is I will never not check the rudder again. I normally do I was just excited I guess. The good news is the framesides are fine. It got all the regular stuff, Boom main, gear, blades, and a couple of shafts. My theory on why the motor shaft broke is I think the belt went between the main gear and the pinion. Oh well its broken in now. Parts should be in this week. I will update later.

Jason,

Very sorry to hear of your bad luck sir!

I hope it gets sorted out soon.

Many of us are looking forwards to your flight reports!

Do you plan on making frames and motor mounts for sale?

I wonder if the 6HV counter bearing would work, or a mikado counter bearing. Either way, it might be good insurance to keep your expensive kontronik motor in tact.

Sorry to hear about the crash... We've all gotten excited and forget the simplest things at times.

Alexmit thanks for the heads up on the mikado counter bearing. They made one for 30mm bolt spacing and 6mm shaft for $25. The bearing was going to cost $20 if I made one.

Hope to have her back up friday or saturday

You can't dead end your thread like this and leave everyone hanging....vids, pics...come on!

Yes i'm resurrecting this as it's good old innovation instead of just buying everything...yah know the "hobby" part of this hobby.

I would still like to get two sets of conversion parts, if they should ever become available.
