Hi No the guy did not crash, the report said that the heli started drifting and the drift got wider and wider. I have only read two reports of crashes the first one was probably due to attempting 3D type manuvers to close together and the second very recent, was pribably due to it not being set up correctly. There have been a few minor crashes during atemps to hover before FM is set up correctly. But like anything electronic it could fail and bear in mind that its a Chinese clone.
I have said many times that I have 5 FM's and 2 HC, fm has never given me any problems and i have no problem fitting them to my $600 helis but if I had a $4000 heli I would probably use HC in the hope that for the extra money and the fact that its German I would have a something less likely to fail, but there is no actual proof of that.
Or I would use a FM that has been on another heli for a long time and so well tested.
Hope this helps. Ivor

Guys, I am selling my brand new flymentor 3D. I don't have room for it on my AP helicopter. If anyone is interested, $80 shipped in US and paypal as gift.

Just sold it...

In my opinion where the programmer is really needed is if you have no access to WinXP on your PC.
Totally right - but I bought one which arrived this weekend. Seems easy to use, except that the load & save functions seems to work the opposite way round. Also when I copied the settings from the heli to the unit, it wouldn't get the rotor direction right. I had to set this manually and now it's fine. I only have one laptop with XP on it and that belongs to my wife It shouldn't need much alteration, but I guess I'm always just fiddling & checking, so for what it cost, it's worth it. Cheers, Keith

Got an XP laptop but the battery is shot, not about to waste money on an old PII beast that I could eat or drink I did look at the programming box but again its more spending and for some reason I like the look of a four/five blade head
So it's down to my Win 7 Pro lappie, The usb adapter was recognised and the OS dawdled over finding the driver... So I just stopped it and added the Vista driver through the devices panel, works fine.
Powered up the unit with an rx battery pack and it connected first time, I might actually fit it all up on a heli next rainy day.
