Furry 55 Metal Grips
Santa brought me metal blade grips for my Furry 55 and I'm having a problem. The grips come with new radial bearing, but not thrust bearings. I put the head together using the new radial bearings and the remainder of the stock parts. When I tighten down the grip bolts there is an extreme amount of binding. It appears that the head axle is a little short when using the stock bearings, washers, and shims. Anyone else come across this problem?
Thanks, Bob

Make sure both radial bearings are seated completely. With the anodizing they sometimes do not seat completely.

Bob, pull out one of the shims on either side. I suspect that'll solve the issue.

Thanks Dave and Brian,
The bearings are well seated. I pulled the shim that goes between the m8 retaining clip and the grip bearing and it works perfectly. I tried to think of a down side to doing this, but with centrifugal force acting on the grips I don't think there is any chance of the retaining clip interfering with the bearing. First flights with the new head will be tomorrow so we will see. If there is any problem I plan on using a thinner shim to replace the one I removed. Bob
