Default Logo 550SX with YGE90LV @ 8V

Anybody using YGE90LV (Mikado ed.) internal BEC at 8.0V? Is it considered safe or should I just settle for 5.7V without external BEC? My setup is BK servos, Mini Vbar and stock motor.

The BEC should output whatever voltage you set it for so as long as your servos can handle it...

Great, servos are BK 7001HV and 7005HV so no problem there.

I tried those servos first time today (only 5.7V) and almost trashed my heli because apparently BKs don't initialize everytime when powered on. Luckily only scraped mainblades little bit on the asphalt as one cyclic servo was dead. Note to self: Always check that all servos are working correctly before takeoff.

After the close call I did some investicating and managed to replicate it once. I think that when heli has been unlugged long enough so that the extra capacitor in the ESC is empty, servos might not get enough power during the initialization. I recall having read similar behavior with RJX servos, and afaik BKs are basically RJX with small changes.

I have been using the 7.4v setting for over 200 flights with MKS HV servos. Not one issue.

Thumbs up

OK, I have now been flying @8V yesterday and today, total of 12 packs, and have not seen initialization issue anymore. I have to keep eye on it but everything seems to work great now. Thanks.
