That Maxwell indoor MP flight is out of bounds.

My wife had an interesting observation when I showed her a film of a smack flight: She said it looks like the pilot is making mistakes. I suppose that's whole point - to look like your crashing but making great saves.

No, i believe she is actually right! Some of the guys doing 3d like that just mask the constant errors by quickly transitioning to something else so it looks like it was intentional.

Still, if they are having fun who am i to judge. It's a hobby afterall. It just makes me more impressed by nicks vids because you can see what he is trying to do.

Sometimes its fun for me to do the crappy 3d type, but it really just teaches you bad behavior. If im seriously simming and try to learn a new move and mess up slightly, i just stop (as punishment) had start over all again. i delibertly try to not transition out of the mistake.

This is a fair point. Many 3D guys without a routine will do side on tic tocs until they drift out of line, and then transition to the next move. It is part of the skill of being an expert 3D pilot, but if you look close, you can tell who is always flying an intentional routine.

One more for Nick here. I loose interest after 20 seconds of most of the other vids.

Pilots who can mix it up and throw something interesting or technical between each of the hard smack sections are the ones I love to watch It doesn't have to be a planned routine but why bore the crowd with 4 minutes of the same "ooops, I almost crashed for the 75th time". I like how Tareq has been changing his flying style lately.
