Just an update on really settling down the tail kick to a tail waggle.

Doing all the mods I described above got me to a slightly wobbling tail. Though I said the kick was gone, I still had a minor tail wag while hovering. I just wanted to give everyone another update.

Today I flew the 700E after reducing the Tail Lock Gain from the default of 70 down to 55. It made a HUGE improvement. I went from slight wags during hovers to a VERY minor wiggle you could barely notice. I've reduced tail lock down to 50. Hopefully I can test later this week. Tomorrow we are expecting 50 mph gusts so I'll be staying on the ground!

Note that I was doing this in 15 mph winds gusting to 25 mph.

I was flying with two other pilots flying TREX 550 FBLs. One had a V-Bar and one had a 3G. We all had solid experiences on the relatively windy day. The 550 responded similarly to the rudder lock gain set to about 50. It's great to have a heli that really handles the wind. My Trex 500 (flybarred) is not so well behaved in this kind of wind.

Default 3G Kick Solved

Guys,

I solved the tail kick problem on my Raptor 550 3G conversion. The tail would kick 45-90 degrees about every other flight. I was just about to re-install my old gyro and then decided to go through the set up process one more time.

While doing this I found the problem. My digital/Analog servo setting switch was set to AS instead of DS. I had this set correctly when I first set everything up but it got changed at some point.

Changed this and everything works perfectly. I've flown about 10 times since and the kick and the small wag I was getting is totally gone.

The 3G system has made a huge difference with this heli.
