Exclamation 13t & 14t Pinions

I just put the short shaft, adapter and 13t pinion on the Protos. It looks like it sits too high.
The pinion can't go any lower in the adapter and the adapter can't go any lower on the shaft.
I'm afraid the belt will come off!

Anyone have this problem?
Did I assemble something wrong?

Yeah , your too high.

I had the older kit with the longer shaft motor , so after calucating a few times i cut the shaft to fit.

You say you bought the short shaft for the motor ? Maby it can be set lower ?

You will need to trim the motor shaft to use the 13/14t pinions

Starting with a standard shaft and 15t pinion i set the height of the pinion for normal operation. Then i calculated how far into the 13/14t adapter the motor shaft would go in , then trimmed off the difference.

I put an old t-shirt/rag on the motor shaft (Small cut then slide over shaft for a good seal) and wrapped up the motor so no grindings would get into the motor.

I used a dremmel with a cutoff wheel , i stopped to let the shaft cool if it got too hot for my liking.

My protos was a lot better after the drop in pinion (14t) and raised the throttle % . Far less shutdowns
