Default make your dampers last longer

I was having issues placing an order with Mikado so I called them. The guy told me that if I double up the little plastic pieces at the end of the dampers the dampers will perform better and last longer. Have any of you heard of this?

No...
But I heard that using the smaller .5mm spacers instead of the stock 1mm spacers would give softer damping for lower head speed flights wth less oscillation.

Did he explain why he thought they would perform better, and under what cicumstanes?

Personally, I don't care how long a $6 set of dampers last.

This is why I told you to use the brass rings that come with Align dumpers in your other thread.

Now that make sense!

I was not understanding before... I'm just now getting around to ordering the dampers... apparently I'm missing these plastic pieces entirely, so I ordered 2 sets so I can double them up..

The guy (did not catch his name) said it will stiffen the dampers, because they will compress more and make them last longer, I assume because the stiffer head will have less moment in it.

The Align brass rings are both thicker and have a larger OD than the Mikado plastic rings. In my experience they are perfect.

Ya, the 600 or the 550. They should be the same.

like these..

As I said in the other thread, the green Trueblood Engineering dumpers are the best I've tried. The KBDDs might be just as good or better but I've never tried them. But these silly Align brass spacers are the best.

The SX heads come with metal spacers and different dumpers though, so this only applies to the old two piece head.
