Default Fury 55 crash cost

I searched before posting so sorry if this was answered before. How does the Fury 55 compare with the T-REX600 on spare parts cost? Not that I crash...

Marc,

Ha! I hear ya, man. Me either!

In all seriousness, I think that the costs will be surprisingly close. I've never owned an align heli, but if you go to Ron's or Heliproz and check out the prices on the "common parts" you'll see that they're pretty much in-line with everything else. Plus, hey, it's a MinAir! Crashing is about the only reason to buy parts.

I was very pleased to see the part prices after I built my Fury 55. I think they're actually quite reasonable. Your milage may vary. Happy flying...

-Joey

i planted my 55 tail first the other month (see my avatar )

i think parts cost were around 120 bucks minus blades..
This was with discounts however..

Plant any 50 size machine it will cost!

Really the damage wasnt all that bad considering i tried planting a heli tree
Shafts, bearings, tail plates, boom, belt, etc.... they sell crash kits as well!

I had an elevator servo failure causing my first crash of the season early this summer. Snapped the boom, boom struts, belt, and bent main shaft, flybar, main blades and a small damage to the tail blades. Canopy was badly marred. The cost with a cosflaw canopy (minus main blades) was about $85. I was amazed. I now have a spare boom as they came two to a pack. Cool part was the cosflaw canopy was really fine looking for $32, Main spindle wasn't bent, but I changed it. The tail case was completely undamaged. So, IMHO, it was darned reasonable and easy to repair, and suffered minor damages. I couldn't believe the tail was undamaged. The chosen combination of plastic grips and carbon frames, and inexpensive aluminum boom made things take the hit well and cost competitive to repair.

I've not crashed my Align 600 yet (knocking on wood), but I dread the torque tube damage and replacement bling parts. Ease of repair will not be great for engine removal, or torque tube replacement as compared to the simplicty of MA's belt tail (and it flies awesome too...I can't believe how well it stops and holds for a belt).

I'll have to agree with the tail setup, top notch. Starts, stops, and holds like no other heli i've flown!

So, when you replaced your boom struts, did you buy the whole set-metal ends and all?
They are pricey complete, but I would like to just replace the carbon tube next time.
The damn things are epoxied in so getting the carbon out would be hard..

The boom support ends are actually just CA'd in place. I wish there were an adhesive that was more easily removable for cases just like this, but we were unable to find anything else that worked as well as thick CA for assembly.

There is also a long M4 set screw hiding in there that's threaded into the alumunum end and glued to the inside of the tube. If you can cut or break the carbon tube short enough to get an Allen wrentch on it and unscrew it out, I think you'll have a much easier time getting the carbon out with some acetone/debonder.

I use an 80w soldering iron to release CA'ed parts just get them red hot and the CA fails completely ( boiling also works, Don't use the pan for cooking afterwards ) Grab the ali in a pair of pliers and twist Hey presto, no CA
