Default JLog Data and the SK-720 Bus sanity check.

I've been doing some checking, mostly for sanity sake and because I don't want my TDR falling out of the sky.

With BLS 451's and a BLS 251 tail servo, 2 satellites, and Hyperion sensor, the most current that I have seen "so far" across the SK-720 bus was 6.4 Amps. I can also see that my monster heat sink is doing a great job keeping my ESC cool.

The JLog data is very interesting.

BEC voltage, BEC current, Throttle %, PWM-Motor %, Motor RPM, head speed, Motor Current, mAh used, ESC Temp, BEC Temp, Power Watts, and a pile of other data

All of this data is available in a nice semi-colon delimited text log file that you can use LogView to look at or import straight into Excel, which is very nice.

The JLog is a very tiny device that weighs practically nothing with a micro SD card in it.

I also got some video taken from the TDR.
At one point while it is way far away I flipped on the auto-leveling so I could get some very level video of where we were standing.

That is one serious heat sink!

are you using the Jive Bec? I do on my Goblin with bls 451's

The TDR has a very aerodynamic canopy that completely surrounds everything with a lot less ventilation than most helis have, but it can also fly backwards at very high speeds without the canopy flying off or acting like a brake.

Yes, I'm using the Jive's BEC at the default 5.6 V

Based on the BEC temperature and the current, it isn't even breaking a sweat.

I was surprised how little current is actually being pulled except during large cyclic moves. The BEC voltage sensor doesn't register anything below 0.5 A, but then it registers 0.1 V increments. You can tell the governor is dealing with large collective changes at the same time by how much it is increasing the power to the motor.

I know I used to own one.

Awesome.
Rolling shutter really shows how much inherent vibrations are in all helis, even a TDR.

Do you have any vid from the ground?

Yup, Jello city!

Keep in mind that I have the camera stuck straight to the landing strut with no dampening at all.

This one sees the ground

Brilliant!
Do all your helis have V8 engines? They sound awesome.
Hope the heli was OK.

It was fine. In fact you can see it flying by the little yellow flower before I landed it.

My TDR and its batteries appears to be breaking in too!

The rpm's at those throttle settings are going up! and the average vibrations are dropping I haven't done anything but fly it! Apparently it likes to fly

24% = 1278 rpm 0.8 G average
48% = 1548 rpm 1.8 G average
60% = 1710 rpm 3.6 G average

I am increasing my collective mix from 25 to 30 since that tail bounces a bit to the right on a punch out.

Hopefully that will keep it perfect. I'll know soon enough. Otherwise this thing flies like it is on rails!!!!!!

According to my JLog2 data, the Align DS610/BLS251 servo combo in my Trex 600 Pro pulls 8A max. My Jive 80 HV's BEC doesn't seem to break a sweat either.

By the way, are you using a 13T or 14T pinion?

13T

I need to put the JLog on my T550 to see what the 8717's draw!
I understand they can really pull down the current.

Here is the BEC Voltage and Current plotted

The highest peak was as I was unplugging the battery...

Go figure!
