The Pro flies way better than any other Trex model before it in my opinion. I have not flown a sport but I bet it's about the same as the Pro.

Flying it is easy, flying it and not crashing ever is impossible.

hi guys, i know this is the oldest question in the book but I just can't get my tail to behave, and if i can't sort it I'm going to have to quit because this has been going on since i bought the thing. I watched Finless's 401 setup video a hundred times but with a different gyro and different radio it's not easy to follow. If someone could please spell out what the hell I'm meant to be doing i would appreciate it so much.

setup: 450 SE V2, DX6i, AR6200, JR HL800 gyro, Futaba S3134

the biggest problem is that due to receiver location it is very difficult for me to plug the servo straight in to the receiver to get it centered, is there any other way of doing it? However i set the centre it's not right and requires massive subtrim to make it sit straight, and even then it usually drifts, and doesn't fly right.

Don't make me swap over to planks guys!

OK so I had to go looking but the HL800 is not a JR gyro. It is also not really a true heading hold gyro. It's a JP gyro and is a clone of the crappy Telebee piezo gyro. While you can get it to work it doesn't hold well and does in fact drift a bit. You don't set it up at all like a 401 gyro.

I used one many moons ago on a old HDX300 heli. Here is a video showing how to setup that gyro.

Good luck.....

thanks for your help Bob, I'll follow through that vid and see what the best performance I can get from it is, but it might well be time to invest in a 401..

For this question it would be far better for you to post it in the Trex450 forum. Lots of guys that came from other small helis will see this post and respond.

I never did a complete build on a Trex450 V2 or even V1. I did one on the 450 Pro and I did do one on the Helidirect HDX 450. Maybe thats what your thinking?

Go to the heli skills and setup 101 thread. I have videos on CCPM setup, throttle curves, gyro, etc etc all done with the 450 V1. Use the V2 overview vids for the rest.

Question Brutal Newbie

Hi Bob. I am a Brutal Newbie meaning that I don't even know the basics of helicopter terminology or how the mechanics relate to the electronics (servos) and how that all relates to the programming.

I watched many of your videos and of course they are indeed excellent but I think I need to go back even further to understand the different types of mechanics and how they work so I can truly understand how the mechanics, electonics and radio programming work together. I do understand this for rc aircraft whose complexity pales in comparison to heli's so I was wondering if you could suggest videos or laymans text descriptions of how this all works.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Robert

Here is a WIKI that is a good starting point to learn about terms and controls.
