Extreme tail wag/'dancing'
Hi guys,
I have just recently gotten a 300x and am tuning and tinkering everything to make sure it is perfect and ship shape before I take her off the ground. After getting everything to my satisfaction, I take him out to the field today and all is going well, until I hit throttle hold (75% throttle, DX6i default settings) and he just starts dancing everywhere. I turn down the throttle on TH to 65% and try again, and the same thing happens. I believe it happens after the heli gets to a certain headspeed. Here is a video of it happening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y8u...ature=youtu.be Is this an AR7200BX issue? Here's a pic of the dials. http://imgur.com/5Yblfzs Thanks for your help guys! |

Too much gyro gain... turn it down to 58 and slowly work your way up... at 58 you should have a slow wag as you go up it should go..
TH is the switch on the right that cuts the motor completely... The switch on the left is normal and idle up.(slow and fast)... you appear to be getting these mxed up. every heli is different... you are looking for the right gyro gain number between slow and fast wag.

wow. yikes. if you take main blades off and spool up on bench, does the tail servo behave? do you know what motor \ pinion \ main gear is in it? what tail servo horn hole is the tail push rod on? what's your gain set to on the tx?

Have you checked the tail servo frequency in the BeastX?

fwiw..
I have a fair amount of experience with the 300 now.. One thing the examples I have worked with have in common is an intoreance for any tail vibration...To the extent that I dynamically balance the tail...(yes, this is dangerous) If you remove the mains, hold heli in hand, spool up, apply tape to either tail blade until it is like buttah...Much improved flight characteristics, no right roll of death, etc. Another thing which causes issues is an overly tight t/r belt..Looser is better...Balance these issues, 300 (and 450x) fly extremely well. Good luck! John. |

Its a vibe issue . also I saw your one tail blade was down and you flew the heli. Not good always straighten them out before flying. This also leads me to believe u have them fairly loose. They should be just snug not enough to fall on there on weight but enough to keep them up to ! Mains should be snug also but if u turn heli sideways and gave it a jerk they should fall....so snug. I have had a few 300 x's lol I pretty much know all the in's and out's if u have any questions pm me I'll be glad to help oh also make sure your tail blades are valanced it is kind of a big deal on 300 x use a little piece of tape trial and error and try each tail blade one at a time till that Tail is smooth. (With main blades off of course) .....nice bird btw

If all your servo settings in the Beastx are correct, it looks like too high of a tail gyro gain to me.

Thanks for all the help guys, it seems getting the blades snug and adjusting the gyro gain fixed it!

Hi, I noticed what looked like a DS425M tail servo...
I had what you have and I changed back to the stock servo, I got a fix from a different forum with the same issues at "normal" gain it Bounces like crazy... The fix is to lower the menu D (Tail HeadingLockGain) to low or very low, stock is medium (red), this should allow you to run higher gain on the radio without the tail bouncing... To low gain on the radio and it cant hold the tail... I havent tried the fix myself but I will (changed back to stock servo on it)...

I haven't done any hard 3D with it yet so I'm not sure if the tail will hold or not |

Bouncing like crazy at "normal" gain i.e. the setup I've been using with the stock tail servo (the rest same). Lower gain, it starts waging, lower even more it stops but cant hold the tail, even in pretty mild maneuvers... (I run ~3600rpm governed) But as I said, I haven't tried it yet... Will play around with it today or tomorrow and se how things goes...
