Default Trex 500 fbl head tips!

Hi All,

I've been flying for almost two years now and i think it's time to try fbl head with beastx system.
Where can i buy?Which one do you suggest and why?I found some:
http://helidirect.com/t-rex-500-flyb...de-p-18628.hdx
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._assembly.html

I appreciate your opinion!

If it isn't I2, well...then the rest are all about the same.

I have the HK offering...the $45.00 one - mine came in a real RJX bag.
'Twas the real thing. Works great. Tastes better, less filling. But it's no I2.
If you're gonna be cheap...then be cheap.

It won't be the last fbl head you ever buy, anyways.

First, Bob at I2 is down for appendix surgery. Don't know when he'll start back up with RC-TEK.

Why not consider the Align FBL head? I have two Trex 500's with Align FBL heads, and I can't complain about either. However, i don't use the BeastX so I don't know if the geometry will be in the sweet spot. I know for my Skookum 720 the stock head works with it, so I would expect the BeastX to work with it.

On my Trex 600, I found that the original Align FBL head worked better for the conversion than did the new FBL head with the replaceable grip arms. But, in general, that geometry was a real pain to get to work with a Vbar.

As far as the RJX head, I don't know about them except that a lot of people say they use them and haven't had a lot of problems. Also, I think Compass makes a FBL head with integrated swash driver/grip arms. That would be a choice.

Good luck on your decision.

I think Bob's up and running again. His products are being listed at RC-TEK again. He says he's not 100% yet but he's feeling alot better.

For what it's worth I use that RJX head on my Compass Atom 500 and it works great. I could not be any happier with it. I also use an RJX head on my 700 and it has been great. I'm sold on their heads.

I am also using the RJX head from Hobbyking on my 500. Very happy with it.
It is sturdy - have survived a number of hard crashes.
I have a number of things, I would like to upgrade on my 500 - but the head is definitely not one of them.

I remember the RJX head to be one of the most used fbl heads, maybe because of its low price but also because there were no special issues. I have never flown it or another fbl but the Compass one is beautiful.

My rjx head does have a small amount of vertical, up and dow play. It still flies OK though. Hard to tell if the upper mainshaft bolt hole is wallowed out or if the bolt is not proper diameter for the shaft hole but I will probably switch to an align fbl head @ tax time.

I really pushed the boat ot an went for the i2RC FBL500A-PRO 500 head. This is NOT cheap, but it is beautiflly designed and made. I made my decision partially because a 500 is the heli I fly most, so it gets a lot of action, and I want it to be as 'solid' as possible.

I use BEASTX and despite having had reservations when I bought it a couple of years ago, it has proven a top class product too. The two components work very well together.

Good Luck.
