Default difference between v1 and v2 of the 600/700

hi!

went to a seller here who has a 600/700 kit. anyways, i asked him it is version 1 or version 2
and his answer was, he has no idea.

when was version 2 released? and the question is... how could i identify if it is version 1 or 2?

thanks!

The V2 has a lower center hub. V1 got one center hub for FBL and FB! So that you could use the same head for both!

And the V2 comes with a dfc head!

Probably the most critical identifier between V1 and V2 will be the tail pulley gear. V1 was plastic *this is very bad with that much power*. The V2 has an aluminum tail pulley gear which is a safety must!!!!! Another way to tell is the tail boom is shorter 31.5 inches the V1 was something like 34.25inches and at certain rpm's would develop a harmonic vibration. Benny and Justin were the first ones to find the tail pulley flaw and the harmonic issue. They have since been corrected. The battery tray is also longer on the V2 as well as metal belt guide pulleys. The DFC *they call it the TDT* style head is a definate V2. You may also want to glue a piece of rubber matting like what goes on the bottom of a tool box *cut to fit* to the base plate to keep the batteries from sliding a hair while in flight. The V2 700 is a darned nice flying helicopter...

If in doubt order one from helicopterhobbies.com and specify a V2 as he has them in stock.

Hope this helps.

Gave Charles a call and he says all he has is the V2. The V1's are all gone...

V1 to v2 differences

-Tail hub (went from bolting the grips on to the hub is now threaded and you use a nut)
- Head ( new FBL specific hub)
- Grip "branch arms"
- Tail pushrod ( now shorter)
- Main shaft ( shorter in length)
- Canopy mount posts ( now have an cotter style pin)
- Longer bottom plate (for battery)
- Shorter tail boom
- Main shaft collar is now thinner and tapered
- Tail braces (aluminum ends, shorter length)
- Tail grips ( no longer are "lightened" by having slots and tighter tolerance for tail bearings)
- Down motor mount ( now is higher and has a thicker bearing)
- Helical cut main gear (some new kits have this, some do not, but it's believed that's the direction KDS is going)
- Metal tail belt pulley
-New autorotation hub ( requires different shimming)
-Belt ( shorter)
-Tail boom (also shorter)
- Canopy "bumpers" on the front of the frame near the ESC tray.
- Aluminum canopy mount break away tabs ( this is actually not much of an "upgrade")
- Metal tail belt idler pulleys
- Canopy ( depending on the date of manufacture, it's possible your canopy will have a new paint scheme, or also have vent holes for motor/ESC)

I'm not positive this is a comprehensive list but the difference between v1 and v2 (700 innova at least) is fairly substantial.

Very useful list!
Thank you!
I find some problem to order spare parts for v2, tail boom I've received is V1... I'll cut it...
I' thinking... But if v1 tail boom is 87 cm long, and v2 is only 80 cm... On v2 I can use blade until 710mm... What appen if I mount tail boom, tail arms and belt of V1 on V2, and 800 mm blade? Is it a very crazy idea? ;-)
a problem could be the 800 mm blade cost for a crash! :-(

Ghostflyer, you have a 700 right? Can you confirm that the tail boom length has been shortened for the 700 only? I haven't seen new part numbers for the 600 boom nor the belt. I have a new belt idler pulley and auto gear.

Also, do the new "branch arms" have a different geometry than the original FBL arms? I don't want to upgrade to the "DFC" style head just yet but I want to get some new arms.

Booo
Long time no hear from brother....
Yes the tail boom is shorter only on the 700's. Also the arms are different on the DFC style head along with the link measurements from the servo arm to the swash. So if you need new arms make sure that the part number does not end with -TDT if your looking for the old ones. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've been in the midst of vacation / in-laws visiting etc. Not to mention that it's been around -20C outside so flying won't be happening for a little while yet. I've got everything ready to 'upgrade' my 600 with the newer metal parts, I just didn't think I had to replace the boom and belt too.

Stabilization this time around will be with an AR7200BX.
