dons wicked with 10t and align RCE-BL35P esc.
governor mode on this esc makes tail control unpredictable and strange, turn governor off and it flys perfect. does the same on my 500esp.

I am running a 94 flat throttle curve and its really got some pop now. Now there is a decent motor in the heli I can feel a big difference in the batteries, The eflight battery is ok but the 45 to 90c nanotechs are superb. The align DS425 tail servo holds the tail much better as well.

Another thing I have changed on this heli for crisper 3d is increasing cyclic responce to increased ( Red Solid ) and turning on pitch boost to medium ( red solid ) this made a huge difference to tic tocks and continuous flips and general inverted to everted transitions.

I will swap out the align esc when funds allow to the ice lite to have a governed head speed and use the align esc in my pro.

Shyguy I just run a few packs through mine with the Turnigy motor and all is good. Local indoor heli club so nothing amazing as it's small basic hovering pitch pumps and forward flight all be it tame lol... Tried 75 and 100 TC in IU with carbons on NO bogging. Like I say it was tame flying due to restrictions and of course my lack of skills but flew VERY well. Deffo much quiter than stock motor. Little to no vibes since motor, hub and grips change. I would say the power and H'S was very close I'd be inclined to say maybe higher JUST (maybe due to indoors and restricted light zone).

Look forward to hearing of your log data regarding H'S. I guess that will give us the data needed to take the motor as a cheap option. For sport flying (my skill level) it is definitely a fine choice.

Sounds good! Hoping to do some tests tomorrow, will try stock ESC first.

Seeing DoubleCH's wirk I think this heli will be just awesome when we finally get CNC'ed main gears!

Some cast gears are just horrible, others are not that bad. This is one of the bad ones:

My question for the guys using the Cool 33a ESC flashed with the BLHeli code. Did you replace the resistors on the board as recommended to allow you to flash the code under power or did you just flash the code using the simstick?

Thanks,
John

Unhappy Bad test day

OK, so I tried to do some testing today...

With new MH alu parts... head and swash. The grips I could not use since they lacked thrust bearings, and the stock ones are too big for them (they will send me new ones).

The swash has a lot of slop, not good.

The head does not run true (the shaft runs 100% true), there's some wobble at the top "button".

Nevertheless, I gave it a go... hella lot of vibrations, and it wants to bank to the right all the time And very poor lift... even seemed like the motor (Turnigy) quit a couple of times...

I then discovered that the head with the stock dampeners is VEEEERY loose! You can with very little pressure move it A LOT with your finger! Seems they got the dimensions wrong here...

So guys, stay away from MH alu upgrades for the 300X for now! (I've sent them videos of all the problems)

The new shoes looked great though, only upside! What do you think?

Default 300X - motor and ESC alternatives?

I bought the blade aluminum main hub and it wasn't true causing vibrations and right tilt also. This might sound crazy but the button screw on top if main hub I screwed it all the way down to pinch feathering shaft tight against hub because screw that came with it was to long and all be damn if flew sweet. No vibes. I eventually bought the rakon main hub with lynxs dampeners. Now it's cherry. The rakon upgrades parts are very good from my experience. Way better aluminum stronger and presice compared to the others out there.
Any body looking to get upgrades I highly recommend to stay away from the blade upgrades . Cheap aluminum don't fit right and more problems than there worth.
Just my opinion
Happy flying

Oh by the way where did you get the landing gear from that looks pretty sweet. And are they any good as far as quality and durability.
Just curious

Que? I thought that top alu button was the same piece as the head itself...

EDIT: Checked, it's solid, no screw on the MicroHeli one:

But you say you tighten down on the feathering shaft with a longer screw = no movement in the dampeners???

Agreed on the Blade alu parts. I'll look into the Rakon stuff then... real shame, I've been very happy with MH for my Nano and mCPx!

EDIT: Full Rakon 300X line on order

Details in the 300X pic tread. Very very cheap, but was hard to dremel so seems like it's very solid!

OK, put back on stock head and swash - runs true again.

Plus Lynx dampeners, super tight!

Measured the inner seat of the head for the dampeners:
-stock: 5,92mm
-MH: 6,02mm

So no wonder the MH head gets wobbly... they messed up here.

Main gear: Opened a new pack, one was horrible like the one I had on, the other was at least better. The bad ones cause so much vibes, noise and drag!!!

Default Turnigy / 10T test

Poor conditions today with cold, gusty winds...

But I must say this combo is not something to consider. It seemed very weak, actually quite a bit weaker than the stock motor.

Resulting in lag & poor lift, the heli felt sluggish & lagging.

Also my BX settings were dialed down a bit due to previous vibe problems. Not that bad now, just some from the main gear.

Anyway, I think we can conclude that the Turnigy needs to be run on a 9T, and therefore is nothing to consider if you want more headspeed than stock.

Looks like the Wicked on a 10T is the ticket here

i got mine out today with very good conditions and also noticed less "pop" you could also hear the tail pitching hard to keep up on stall turns.... i didnt suffer TBO but i didnt feel comfortable to flip this bird over at all. Looks like i'll be ripping this motor out too and waiting on the wicked again :-( (hopefully i have the cash when it becomes available again)....

Therefore ive come to the same conclusion the turnigy motor isnt worth the hassle. Will get you out of a pinch if you want sport flyer and have no other options but looks like the scorp or wicked is the way to go.

So we agree it sucks with a 10T then

It flew like crap, yet I was stupid enough to try some 3D.., was floating all over the place, then found a much harder place...
