Neat to see it transferred well though.

What overall gains are you guys using for cyclic and tail as well?

Okay so how are you supposed to setup the SK540 governor, using the YGE phase sensor, I've tried following this : http://heli.dacsa.net/MrMelSite/styled-4/index.html but I don't get the special beep.
And after connecting the rpm port to the SK540 (IO-C port) and turning on the gov (with gear ratio 24), the motor just spools up and goes to max rpm, when it's supposed to be 1000rpm headspeed. And what gear ratio am I supposed to put in the SK540 ? I've seen ppl put 24, but I'm not sure why (I have a 16t pinion).

Special beep? Which video was that in?
It's fairly easy to set up, turn Gov Off on the YGE, then set the throttle end points in the YGE, then set the throttle end points in the Skookum. Using Skookums method, the Gear Ratio with 16T pinion for the 3S motor should be 22.50 Pinion rotations for one main gear rotation = 120t main gear / 16t pinion = 7.5 pinion turns 7.5 pinion turns x 6 poles in motor = 45 45 / 2 = 22.50 gear ratio

Or maybe in the YGE 60 the phase sensor is activated when you desactivate internal gov. On the video it shows that you have to use a modified wire, but since I'm using a sk540, I thought I didn't have to use that.

If you use the MSH Branded YGE 60 you will not get the special beep. You only get that beep with the YGE Vbar ready unit. I would try setting it to Plane Fast / Plane fast Gov off and then try and use the soft start from the Skook. Works for the IKON.

I can't seem to set the throttle endpoints on the YGE
I've tried through the progcard, or using a transmitter through the SK540 (by booting up the SK540 first and then connecting only signal & ground from the YGE to the SK540). But every time, the motor just goes to max rpm at around 40% throttle, and doesn't budge if I change the throttle between 40% and 100% I don't really know what else I can do. I don't have a normal receiver to set the throttle endpoints that way :/ When I set the throttle endpoints using the TX, I find it in "brake smooth" mode every time... even though it's supposed to configure it to brake off.

Yes sometimes you need a traditional RX to set the end points. If your using the Skookum gov u don't need to set the YGE Gov so don't worry about that just turn the YGE gov off. You could try setting the throttle end points using the Prog card

My motor is currently installed in the heli, but with no pinion.

How did u use the Prog card to do it? From what I understand you plug the ESC into the left plug (ESC) on the Prog card and use another cable to from the right plug on the Prog card into the RPM port on the FBL. Also you are using a linear (0-100%) throttle curve in the TX?

Guys do you all mind telling me what overall tail and cyclic gains you are using. I'm getting a slight cyclic oscillation. I have new dampeners in the head and have damping gain down at 14 : 12. I think my overall cyclic gain at the moment is 61

Well I haven't changed my overall cyclic gains at all, I'm at 50%, I have bell gains in the 70's though.
The only thing I've changed in the tail is the overal gain, I'm currently at 40%, but i'm still working on it. I haven't flown in a week as I'm repairing my mini. My damping gains are at 18/16. Is cyclic oscillation really noticeable ? i'm still kinda a newbie so i'm not sure if I'd notice.

MP, SK540C, and CastleLink
While this is slightly off -topic, it is a phenomenon I observe with my MP and SK540C.
The heli uses a Castle Creations ICE 50 Lite ESC. The airborne electronics get power separately from a Castle BEC. I am not using the ICE's internal BEC and have the red wire disconnected from the ESC lead to the throttle input of the SK540C.. When I hook up the ESC to the PC-USB-based "Castle-Link" programming tool, the SK540C beeps rapidly. Can you tell me what that means? Thanks, Paul |
