Century Autoration Mod

Has anyone done this mod using the century main gear and shaft?

Yes,

Just grind the spacer on the autorotation gear with a dremel to make it fit.

How much should I grind off and do I need to be precise? How about turning the gear over?

As far as how much and how precise, I dont really remember as it has been quite a while since I did this. Just be careful to keep the bearing clean.

Why do you do it? Can you auto this thing?

Yes and it make so the main blades do not just stop if power is cut thet continue to spin works great

Do you actualy auto it though? Do these light little blades have enough energy to level off at the groung? What blades do you use?

Did you have to extend the links? I bought the links it recommended and they're still too short. This things been sitting in a box for over two months now just hoping to get installed. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

No you can't really do an auto, not enough energy in the lite blades, but they do not just stop they keep spinning and this helps in all other flying, as to the links and gear mesh I flipped the gear and mounted it to the top this moved the drive gear up and on mine I used the stock links

So looking at the shaft, one end has two holes and the other one. Did you pin the gear in the inside of the two hole end? I thought about that but figured it wouldn't give enough room for the swash movement.

Mine only had 1 hole on each end. Which shaft do you have the one I'm using is #CNE219

It's supposed to be a hardened shaft. Invoice is at the office so I won't be able to check till Tuesday for the exact model number. Anyway, if you only had two holes, what did you mean by "flipped the gear"?

The gear mesh, the main gear does not line up with the motor pinion, some people will pull the pinion down using a gear puller, some grind off some of the metal on the main gear to move up the gear, But I unscrewed the main gear from the bottom and installed it to the top of the metal bearing/oneway holder so that it moved the mesh more in line with the motor pinion. Then move the motor pinion down just a little.

Ok, I'll have to try that. I did grind mine off, but maybe moving the gear will make up the difference in length.
