Default Is it possible to use the same motor for 425 and 550?

Just yesterday got my hands on a gaui 425 kit.
Now I'm taking the time to find out what electronics to put in.

In the future I want to extend the 425 to a 550, So I'am wondering if there is a motor-setup which can be used for flying 425 first, and lateron for 550.

Looking at the motors used for a 550 they are about 1000Kv
--> Can I use this (with different gearing/pinion) to get enough headspead for a 425?

Hoping some of you guys has some experience with this.

Thansk

I set my 550 up as a 425 for a while using my Z20A 980kV - it flew OK, but probbaly not up to 3D (but neither am I ). If you went for a 1100Kv motor with a 16 / 42 / 20 / 61 gearing that should get yopu up to about 3,000 HS. Then stick on 14 / 60 /20 61 and you are back down at 1,800 HS.

I got a good deal on a scorpion 3026 1000kv and tried it my 425, it was good enough for sport flying (which is all I can do) but didn't have any power for punch outs.
