Default How long are your flight times?

Just wondering what people are personally getting for flight times as I've seen reference for up to 8 mins per pack.

I'd love to hear what you are getting and with what batteries...

Thanks!

Highly depends on how hard I fly and my setup. Hard stop tic-tocs draw the most power. My usual mild 3D I get about 4.5min down to 3.77v (can probably do another 30 seconds down to 3.73v 80% discharge) with Turnigy 20c 2650 at 2500 HS 470 blades 14T pinion 20T tail gear. I reserve 1 of 4 banks of my FBL setup for my strong packs. My Wild Scorpion 45c 3500 pack can do 5.5 min same flying style but if I use this smack-ready bank at 2650 HS, aggressive governor performance, more "vivid" flying style, and fly it hard flight time can get down to 4.5 min.

I would say average overall would be about 5-6 min, depending on style,gearing, motor,etc.
Also since you can run 2600-3300 packs , large difference there alone. I fly big air, loops , rolls ,etc, no smack 3d and get about 6 min on 3000s with conservative HS on my stretch

Thanks for the response so far...

I have a question about headspeed. I found an iPhone app to calculate it and it's based on 90% efficiency.

If I'm aiming to set my Protos up with a 2600Rpm headspeed, with the 93T main gear, stock 15T pinion, and 880kv scorpion motor, the calculator says I'll have to reduce to 80% throttle. Is that ideal, or should I be aiming to be at 95% throttle, and choose a different pinion.

Also, when people say they run a specific rpm, is that with fully charged batteries or an average of the headspeed between 4.2V/cell & 3.7V/cell?

New to this...so many questions.

I bet most people refer to governor when they say running specific HS. It's easy to set and confirm a particular HS if you run external governor (governor controlled by FBL controller not ESC). With ESC internal governor you may have to use tachometer to confirm HS. Without governor certain HS doesn't mean much because it'll change all the time in a flight depending on load. If you haven't set up governor, I highly recommend setting it up.

Thanks. I created a post in the main forum and have received good info on this and am starting to make sense of it.

I will definitely be setting up the internal governor on the ESC when I get it built and ready to fly.

After five minutes my 2700mah battery is ready to take a break. Running stock ungoverned, 90-100% throttle and mostly sport flying.

This particular flight with 45C 3500 pack almost 5 mins get down to 3.755V. 3.73V is 80% discharge so I think this is probably like 77% discharge.

GensAce 2600mAh, ~2800RPM, 3 min straight tic/tocs (with ~5s 'rest' every 30-45 seconds) -> ~1800-1900mAh.

Otherwise - mild 3d @ 2400-2450RPM, 5 minutes for !700-1800mAh...
