Got rid of my 450dfc for a 500efl as I'm not a huge fan of the dfc head & prefer the 500 size when the wind picks up. Still find the disc loading is high on the 500 & still got to fly it in the same fashion.
Love the 550 is its just such a *****cat-it just floats & just every move is like slo-mo compared to a 450/500
Mine is a 550efl mk1 running 520 blades (had it that long) got a couple of mates running 550 blades on later models & they float so much better. Downside is shorter flight times & the batt's do get to do get a pasting.
BTW have you noticed that Align have released a new range of upgrade heads for the dfc range-(the new)EFL head😂
Finally Align cotton on thank dfc their sucks unless you are the 5% out there who can put out YouTube feeds showing your skills lower than a tennis courts grass height (sorry being rather English there-lol)
Anyway 500 good fun-550 is really a class above in so many ways just take care which head/blade length you run.

I own 2_500 size helies one of them the new 500l. Also own 550 v3 dfc,600 dfc,700 dfc. I wouldn't Sell one of them, each one serves its purpose. A 500 u can pick up n fly almost anywhere but nothing beats the stability n power of a large heli with a good hs. Its always good to have a beater heli with alot of spare parts to really push the limits n get a little crazy. Just my opinion.
That's a good point. For me after 5 years with the ESP, I like to push the limits with a bigger heli, it is so enjoyable.

Just a thought - I run 2700mah pulses on my 500's.
So it was a no brainer to run two of them in parallel on my 550's - little heavy on 520 blades - but on 550 blades -nice and smooth - much much better control and hang than 500's

Bought a CC ice2 80 off forums for $70 and 12s 600mx motor - gonna try 12s on the 550 blades w/ 2 2700 pack in series next.....

-
Just as adrian said - I'm not a fan of the dfc heads - very expensive way to learn to fly - at least at my skill level - so I pull the dfc heads off and put efl ones on...

Its kinda crazy that align has gone total dfc heads - these are really for upper intermediate or advance pilots....
Or someone who is heavily sponsored.
