I'm looking at switching my dfc over to the sxt head, i'm getting the tic sounds in the linkage already and its not that old yet and even though it flies good I swear my 550 non dfc is smoother and more forgiving which goes against every thing I've heard about 700's. I know what I need to convert it but curious about the head height. The pics still make it look low but how much difference in height between the stock dfc vs sxt system?

The SXTS head is either 10mm or 15mm higher than the DFC head if I remember right.

According to the following document, the SXTS is 5mm taller, than the DFC. The traditional head is another 20mm.

My SXTS head is 5mm higher than the XTS head and I am pretty sure the XTS head was 10mm higher than the stock DFC head.

My bad, the one on the right in the diagram is the KDE XT system which is already 5mm taller than DFC.

Thanks for the correction Raydee.

i think i'm gonna switch over, is there a huge difference in the roll and flight rates? i would imagine i can just dial up the agility in the vbar if its too slow but i've seen plenty of great flying with the traditional heads so i don't think it will be an issue, just want to smooth out the heli, seem to get a few quick unexpected/undesired hooks in some moves.

There is not a huge difference, the DFC does flip and roll a little faster but I just bumped my agility up to 115 and my 700 rolls just as fast now. I am just more confident flying the SXTS head over the lower DFC head. Its guys like me...the non-pro flyers that are the ones that make mistakes in the air and bog the headspeed down enough to have a tail strike. With the raised SXTS head I am not worried about that at all. I also notice that the blades don't bark nearly as much as they do with the DFC head setup. I am running the KDBB Lime green dampeners on my SXTS head and it feels great in the air.

I think the first of the seven seals of Revelation will be broken before KDE sells a SXT head for the 550/600 models. Chalk this one up with the CNC torque tube gears.

But hey, at least we got some gearcase brackets now - ye-haw!

I like mine . Also am considering to convert my other DFC helis back to conventional head. Highly recommend especially if your flying style is precision and smooth 3D or sport flying.

I have the AT550/600 non-DFC head on my 600 Nitro, and it's great. I've thought about putting it on my 550, but it seems a little tall - that's where an SXT head would be nice, maybe 5mm shorter than the current KDE non-DFC head.
