Drones and Aerial Robotics Conference (DARC) over in NYC on October 11-13. It's basically a multidisciplinary event focused on DIY and civilian drones. The idea is to create an event where amateur hobbyists can rub shoulders with FAA administrators, where people working on UAV applications can share best practices, and where lawyers and policy people can work through the range of questions that are prompted by the integration of UAVs into civilian airspace. Additionally, the final day of DARC will be a hackathon working with the AR Drone platform. Parrot’s Henri Seydoux will be giving a keynote on the main stage at DARC, and they’ve generously donated some Parrot drones for hackers to work with.

During the hackathon, each team will receive one Parrot AR Drone 2.0 and spend the day programming and playing with it. Additional help and direction will be provided by Nodecopter.

The hackathon is open to everyone regardless of skill level. For those who are interested in learning more about the basics of hacking a drone, we recommend the Intro to Hobby Drones track on the second day of DARC.
