Default FAQ: Bantam e-Station Charge Program descriptions

Hi all,

I wanted to post an explanation of the various charge/discharge programs for the e-Station chargers. This applies to the e-Station models, BC-6, BC6-10, BC-8, & 902 chargers.

Lithium programming:

Charge program:

This program will charge your lithium battery to 4.2V (li-poly) per cell. To initiate this charge, you set the Charge rate in Amps, then you set the # of cells/volatge. Press and hold START, the charger will do a cell confirmation. It will show you what you selected the cell count to be and what the charger detected the cell count to be. If they agree, press START again to start the charge program.

Balance Charge program: (exclude the e-Station 902, see below)

This program will charge your pack to 4.2V per (li-poly) and balance your battery pack at the same time. Connection to the charger is done twice, once through the main leads as well as a connection to the balancer, usually through the connection board for your balance tap type. To initiate this charge, you set the Charge rate in Amps, then you set the # of cells/volatge. Press and hold START, the charger will do a cell confirmation. It will show you what you selected the cell count to be and what the charger detected the cell count to be. If they agree, press START again to start the charge program. To see the individual cells on the screen, press the increase key.

Fast Charge program:

This program will decrease the time to the charge the pack by up to 30% by increasing the CC portion of the charge and for the most part skip the CV portion. This will charge the pack to approximately 95%. To initiate this charge, you set the Charge rate in Amps, then you set the # of cells/volatge. Press and hold START, the charger will do a cell confirmation. It will show you what you selected the cell count to be and what the charger detected the cell count to be. If they agree, press START again to start the charge program.

Storage Charge program:

This program will either charge or discharge the lithium pack to the storage voltage of 3.8V per cell (li-poly). The determination to charge or discharge is dependant on the voltage of the pack. You need to choose. To initiate this charge, you set the Charge rate in Amps, then you set the # of cells/volatge. Press and hold START, the charger will begin the Storage program. No cell count validation as it is charging ro discharging to a specific voltage.

Discharge program:

This program will automatically discharge the lithium pack to 3.0V per cell (Li-poly) and terminate the discharge once the pack has reached 3.0V per cell. It is highly recommended that you do not use this program unless you are specifically needing to acomplish a task. Some battery manufacturers do not recommend discharging past 3.2V per cell. To initiate this discharge, you set the discharge rate in Amps, then you set the # of cells/volatge. Press and hold START, the charger will do a cell confirmation. It will show you what you selected the cell count to be and what the charger detected the cell count to be. If they agree, press START again to start the discharge program.

e-Station 902. Since the e-Station 902 does not have a built in balancer, there is no Balance charge program. When used with the e-Station PB-5 or PB-6 balancers, individual cell voltage up to 12S can be displayed on the 902 charges screen. The EAC114 link cable is required.
