Default Anyone recommend a good digital multimeter?

For around $100 or less. One that will measure DC,current, resistance - true resistance, and have a diode check? Thanks for any advice.

Ok thanks Zelon, I've just been doing some reading and they seem to be the best ones out there. Where in Philly are you? I'm just a little north in Warminster.

+1. Flukes used to be really expensive, but they've expanded their line so that mere mortals can afford a good DMM.

Yeah there are a lot of Flukes on Ebay for good prices. Thanks for the heads up on that one Zelon. I picked up a Craftsman (the best model they sell) at the local Sears hardware store because I needed one that day and it sucks. It won't read anything on a small 3.7 lipo. I bought it with the intention of returning it after I get a good one...

+1 for Fluke meters. Hope you can find one with the features you need for your price limit. I only trust Fluke multimeters at work and at home, and have used others. My Fluke 87III was worth every penny.

What Fluke model would you recommend that I look for on ebay for ~$50? Also, are the probe tips pointy and small enough to measure individual cells by sticking into the balance connector? Thanks!

I have the model 115, which cost around $150. It's worth making the investment in a good one because they'll likely last you a lifetime.

As for measuring voltage on balance taps, I usually just stick wires into the connectors and then measure across the other ends of the wires.

You can;t get the probes into the plug end of the ballance tap. But the back end, where the wires are, you can get there, on the back side of the pins. But be careful!!! Easy to touch probes together shorting cell.

A good reason for using the wire approach.
