Default New 770 Comp - whats with the tail ?

Forgive me if this is already discussed but I couldn't find it when I searched.
Okay - I realize there is a note that says its normal for the tail pitch to be tight
after initial build but come on this is cheesy. One grip is very tight (though
thick and smooth tight, not bindy) and the other is free as a bird. I tried flipping
stuff around swapping bearings sides and stuff greasing and regreasing.
No difference no matter what I try.

I have been lectured about how the tail needs to be glass smooth, this is
the polar opposite.

Why dont you do some flights in with them to see if the tail will become better?
My tail grip,at first,a bit tight but after few flights, they came smooth!

I noticed that the plastic ball links from the tail pitch slider were very tight prohibiting smooth operation. I gave them a squeeze with some pliers and now my tails are extremely smooth.

While you're at it, make sure you have the right side/ left side of the links correct per the manual.

The problem is there before you put the slider plastic links on the ball ends. One grip is tight when you rotate it to adjust tail pitch the other is smooth.

As long as they are smooth when you pull outward on the grips then rotate there shouldn't be any problems. In a little time the o-rings dampers seat better reducing the preload and they will be smooth as butter.

Tear it down, Mic out the hub, both sides equal? Mic out the grips in every dimension. Bearings seated equal distance? Mic out the actual bearings, and thrust assembly. All identical? I have found some very bad spec parts here and there. Don't take anything for granted here.
