Friend of mine shoots video for a local short track on weekends and has asked me about getting a camera in the air over the events. We first discussed safety issues and the like but if those hurdles get cleared what type of set up would folks here use to get live video of 10 minute long races? My friend suggested just using a GoPro and if that will provide an acceptable video quality then the light weight would be nice but I'm not sure if such a camera is feasible.

GoPro's, especially the new Hero 3 HD, are capable of some fantastic footage. I would think it would be more than satisfactory for you to use.
